I've been useing DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero 6 for a while now to copy DVD's and well, today i had to go out and buy some more dvd+r's. I got a 50 pack of HP dvd's. I burned one copy successfully and now every time that i try to burn a disc with these HP dvd's it gets to about 93% and i get the message, Burn process failed at 4X..." one time it got to 100% and gave me the message. I've tried burning at 2.4x but still doesn't finish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. RAY
Your HP discs seem to have a problem at the outer edge. Take them back or try this: Open Shrink -> Edit -> Preferences. Change the output target size menu to "custom" and then reduce the output size by 150-200 MB. This is just a guess on what the actual size reduction needs to be, so you may want to experiment. Your compression levels will be a bit higher so change to some Ritek or Verbatim media when you can.
Definitely sounds like a media problem if you haven't changed anything else. Media is a huge factor in DVD backup, much more than people realize. Your size may be the problem since it almost finishes, but not quite. Go to edit > preferences in Shrink. In the drop down menu under target dvd size hit custom and type in 4280. Download a little tool called DVDinfopro(free version is all you need) and check your discs out, manufacturer, size, etc.. Also what discs were you using before you had the problem? Prefered media here at AD is Verbatim or Ritek. You can get branded Ritek G04's(out of 300 burns, only one flawed for me) for .55 ea.(or so) per 100 w/free shipping at Meritline.
I prefer sony, but had to do some major burning for my aunt who is visiting, and the HP were on sale. Thanks for the help, i will try it
