I have the 7 Ultra Edition and have only used to burn audio and data CDs. I never used it for anything else but my son had to do a school project using our Mini-DV camcorder. We attempted to use Nero but we didn't have a video capture device so we weren't able to transfer to my PC to load and edit. We were able to use Windows Movie Maker via Firewire without any device. Did we miss something about Nero and its abilities or does it require a video capture device? Sorry foe noobness of the question, but I am in a realm I won't pretend I know. Thanks.
Well you don't really have to 'capture'. Your Mini-DV is digital. You could simply transfer, through firewire, to your HDD. Then if you want to use Nero Vision just 'Add' from the HDD.
Thanks MysticE for your response. It is much appreciated. As I said in my OP I won't even pretend to have a working knowledge. Do you have any recommendations for a capture device for VHS to PC? Thanks again.
Assuming the VHS aren't commercial tapes with copyguard the easiest would probably be with one of these. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9203048 DVD Recorder, 04/20/2009 Excellent product! I am using it to transfer VHS cassette material to DVD before the images are lost forever. I have been very satisfied with the resulting quality of the DVDs, and recommend this product highly. Also plays professional DVDs with excellent reproduction. very helpful, 03/22/2009 I am very happy with this product. I bought it in order to transfer my families old vhs tapes to dvd. I really wanted to do this for my elderly father living in Florida, I could not afford the cost of having them send out to be transferred. This product solved that problem for me and if I can figure out how to do this anyone can. Just read the directions carefully and don't give up.
