    to Hobbit 112

I wondered what was going on!
Have done all as you suggest

downloaded demo - however it now doesn't like my serial no! comes up with "any incorrect serial no....." Any ideas please?

Do you think I might be best going back to Nero 6?

    Thank

    Hey evoix,

    Noticed your thread got hijacked.

Your initial Nero 7 install, was it an OEM? Do you still have the install disk? Did you have Nero 6 on first and then upgraded? Did you run the Nero Clean tools if you did? Your nero 7 serial should work. If they are still available, check a Nero log file to double check the number.

If you do got back to Nero 6 (I have Nero 6 on an older machine & it works well), be sure to run the Nero 7 Clean Tool.

If you do go back to Nero 6 from 7(and I did on the above mentioned computer), download & install version 6.6.0.18 which was the last stable of the versions.

Follwo these steps if you do.

Run the Nero 7 clean tool, then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

    install package one:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539

    then install package two:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!

Hi again, ebay have 6.6.0.19b or 6.6.019d for pence - which should I go for. The Nero was loaded on to my pc by technician, who gave me the serial no which looks o.k. but obviously isnt! What do you think, just want to use something that is consistent! Thanks again.

DON'T GET AN OEM VERSION OFF EBAY! OEM version serial numbers are specific for the brand & drive that they initially came with. For example, I have an OEM version which came with a Sony burner which won't work with my Lite-On or Benq burners.

Go for a BOXED version of Nero whichever is the cheapest. The main thing is you want the serial number. You can always (at least for now) download version 6.6.0.18 from the links I supplied. Version 6.6.0.18 is still the most stable of the Nero 6's. The serial number should work with all versions of Nero 6.

Thank you for all your help. Is the download 6.6.0.18 you suggested free? I'm still trying the demo 7 which appears excellent but dont really want to send £30!

The download is free BUT it doesn't come with a serial number.

The page states "commercial trial" which probably means it'l work for a short period of time and then stop unless you purchase/have a serial number.
