Hi guys... I've read threw the sticky about Illegal disc errors... Hi eswake The illegal disc error is usually caused by the drives firmware not supporting the media. Even though your firmware is up to date - this drive hasn't been updated since 2004. It's a bit on the old side esp. only supporting +R at 2.4x max burn speed. Finding media that will work with it may be a problem also. Your best bet would be to get a new drive. They are so much cheaper now and support much more media and burn speeds then yours does. Other than that you could use more memory in the pc like adding another 256 mb but your burning problems would probably be solved with a new drive.
Yea I would love to buy more ram, and a new drive but I can barly make ends meet as it is.... I've been able to burn these dvds before, So I don't see why its not working now. Thanks anyways
Drive can also be on it's way out. If you're using media introduced to the market after 2004 like 16x and probably some 8x (maxell uses different manufacturers so you can get a different one w/ each spindle) they can be hit or miss with this drive. You can try and find 8x or lower media for this drive. +RW media may work better with it - cost more than +R media - but hasn't really changed much manufacturing wise.
