I have been using this version for a while now and never had an issue until just now. I have an img file that I wanted to burn. Couldn't burn it using ISO because Nero said the size was to big. So I used Make UDF DVD. Ran that, selected file and started process. Not even 3 seconds into it I get this error. I have also been using the same media in the past and never had an issue. Sony DVD-R 120min 4.7GB with AccuCORE DVD-R Ver 2.1/1x-16x Here is my error log. Please help because I have no idea whats going on and I'm getting really tired of this. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 9/17/2007 5:34:10 AM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 4:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 7.2.0.3 Internal Version: 7, 2, 0, 3 Recorder: <_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A> Version: 203E - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.2.0.3 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? no offense..... just my opinion...... your burner is now over 3 yrs old ..... not a 16x burner but with the latest firmware update. And you're trying to burn 16x media (the newer media) and now you're having trouble. Try burning 8x media! this might solve all your problems..... but there's more: there is a better version of Nero 7.... 7.10.1.0........ Save your serial # then uninstall Nero! Use the cleaning tool: Nero7 Clean tool http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html do a registry clean up using this free cleaner: CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/download then do a defrag and reboot! now reinstall Nero 7.10.1.0: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?2893 a little more RAM would be nice..... stay off the internet, no multi tasking, even shut down unnecessary programs running in the background while burning. burning too slowly is just as bad as burning too fast! burn at half the rated speed of the disk! (8x burn at 4x). the file is from Roxio, or also can come in through WinAmp. If Roxio installed then you will need Roxio Zapper to uninstall the program. As sometimes this program does not play well with Nero. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml try these changes and you should have better results.
Well I have un installed and re installed all of the above. Now when it comes to the media.. I don't understand. Because I have used TDK 16x before with no issues. And Sony 8X and I don't understand how one good well know brand will work and another will not. After all was installed, said and done. Nothing once again.... I'm going to run to the local Walgreens and see if I can fine any more 16X TDK and go from there.
well got a new spindle of TDK 16x and burn process worked completely fine. I don't get that... I would have thought that Sony would be perfectly fine as they were before.
most newbies don't understand about media. you would think that media is made one way only and that all media from one brand are the same! They are not. Some brands out source their media to many manufacturers. If you were to buy a spindle of Memorex you might find 3 manufacturers making the brand "Memorex"! does that mean that they all should work properly? NO! here is a media guide for you: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm this is not the tell all or written in stone. It's a guide.... and like guides they can be wrong about things but use this one as a good indication about what's good and what's not so good out there. It is known that TDK is NOT first rate media but second rate at best. That's not to say that TDK is bad.... just not first rate as stated on the list of this guide. Sony out sources and therefore not all Sony disks are first rate.... and therefore some of your disks that "worked before" is not what it used to be! It all depends on what manufacturer made the disk. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are the top of the line...... but not all the Verbatim's are.... confused yet? Well just stay away from the Verbatim MADE IN INDIA! OK? good. Taiyo Yuden is top of it's class for consistency, recognizability, and quality, which makes it the best you can get. You won't have a problem with that media! so the media question is solved..... You have to find what works for you..... if TDK works for your burner then stick with that one. But it is known that TDK is not the best media and that in the future you might have a problem with it because of it's out sourcing. I hope you understand a litte big more about media than before..... and if you don't just read more about the media guide and what is said after it on that website above. Here is another good read: http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Why-DVDRW-is-superior-to-DVD-RW/ good luck. and welcome to afterdawn.
