I had a copy of Nero 7 Ultra Edition (can't remember what version) on my old Windows XP PC until it crashed and the hard drive died. I bought a new, Vista PC. According to Nero, I can download a Nero 7 Update and use my old Nero 7 serial number to activate it. The average download speed I get to download the update of the Nero site is about 10kb/s so I decided to download the same file off of another site where I get around 160kb/s(max speed I've seen on my PC). I finished downloading the update off of the other site and launched it. This is what happened: -Vista asks to approve access to computer; I click allow -Nero 7.11.10.0 starts to extract -Nero 7.11.10.0 finishes extract and asks to add Ask.com toolbar, I select no and ask to continue with the installation -Nero prepares product installation and finishes -Vista flashes the Windows installer and all Nero processes are stopped; nothing happens after that What way can I get Nero 7 to work without buying a new version of Nero? Official Site for Nero 7.11.10.0 Update: http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero7-update.php Where I got Nero 7.11.10.0 Update: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Nero-7-Premium-Download-28919.html (RO Server; US server gives 0 bytes file)
The problem which occurs in Ultra 7.2.7.2 in vista is it kept crashing during installation, I could uninstall it from the menu and found that Alt-Ctrl-Del into the Task Manager and Ending the Task for "Microsoft Windows" (error installing screen") allowed the installation to go furthur, but it eventually gave me an error and closed the installation. ------------------------------------ Jennysmith Influencer
THANK YOU jennysmit! I actually successfully uninstalled Nero 7 then installed the new version of Nero then I used my old serial number to obtain the full functions. For those of you who couldn't not uninstall Nero 7 because you upgraded to Vista, this is the way to do it. To uninstall Nero 7, use the Nero 7 Clean Tool, found here: http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html Now, since you may have Vista there will be an error message showing that some program isn't compatible and the only option is to click, "Close Program". Here's the loophole. As many times as that error shows up, click "Close Program". Even though you close the program, the Nero 7 Clean Tool keeps working; the progress bar will still keep going. Eventually, the error codes will catch up to the processes of the Nero 7 Clean Tool and will stop showing up. Then follow the steps of the Clean Tool and select to remove all the Nero components. Viola, Nero 7 is uninstalled completely even if your deleted the Nero folder from you program files! Now, I can't remember but I think the Nero 7 Clean Tool asks where the Nero folder is. I was somehow able to designate the Clean Tool to Nero Scout because I too deleted the Nero folder and somehow it uninstalled successfully. Then if you still have the serial code, download the free update from the link I provided in my last reply. I suggest the Softpedia link, as you will get a MUCH better download speed. If you got the same error I did before uninstalling Nero 7, then this time when the Windows installer flashes, the installation will continue instead of stopping.
