OK., I have a boxed set of nero 7 ultra, install fine. Great. This is onto 2000 and xp2. Good thing.. Anyway, downloaded from Nero FTP the updates, and low and behold they do not wanto install. "The currently installed version of Nero 7 is incompativle with this installer. It must be uninstalled using the control panel before ireinstalling with the current verion." I thought that perhaps nero broke the update patch installers, relying on a progressive install. So, I downloaded the patch for 7.0.1.4 , and that seems to have time out revealing "Please uninstall the old Nero 7 Demo verion , before you install Nero 7 Demo version 7.0.1.4". God, this is the boxed set. and is using the key that came with with the box. Has Ahead change the updaters to require registering before and update can be applied? To tell you the truth, I did not expect this from Ahead. But then again, I have had my second thought since the 5.5.x release. I had hopes for 6.x , but it seemed so much slower...though this is turning into a rant. If anyone has thoughts about this I would appreciate feedback. I prob will breakdown and pay for Nero support on Monday for this, as I have a client install in the morning that I would like to patch to 7.0.1.4
Probably the easiest way would be to completely wipe out the old nero using Nero Clean Tool from Nero web site. I would also go into the registry an delete any Nero/ Ahead folders. Reboot the computer and then run 7.0.1.4 exe and use the SN that came in your box. It ahould be a valid key.
True, if this was origionally downloaded from the net. But the orig install was from the boxed set. But it just should work.
If you don't have version 7.0.1.4b, you can get it here: http://httpdl6.us.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe That it has worked good. Two other members here on AD reported success doing the above(nero Clean Tool and clean registry)
