I'm wondering. Is it worth converting over to Nero 8? What are the differences between the two. Is it worth the money at this time. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I got it a few days ago, as far as I can tell their virtually the same. The only real difference is a new layout, a new disc-cover designer and more support for newer DVD+R drives and all kinds of media.

Honestly don't bother, there's nothing that you'd really need.

    Hi guys,
If you are planning to buy nero 8 it is just like you are throwing your $$$ into the sea with no return...You might as well donate it to the charity or the old folks home at least you are helping the poor societies. Why I said that was because if you buy nero 8 and encountered any problems and you asked for help from the nero technical you will not get any reply or answers back...They simply ignore you that is?!!!!Their services is getting worse than before..Think carefully before you make that move...?//??

It's funny you brought that up. I'm still using Nero 7 and I don't intend on getting 8. I just updated with the update from October. I haven't used it much. Anyway, there support team isn't that great. Nero 7 is a strong and good software. yet I'm wondering why they are faultering in the support arena.

Can you explain to me what is DVD shrink? Plus are there other problems that people are having and Nero isn't addressing.

If you use Nero, why would you use Shrink? Recode 2 is part of the Nero package and is like Shrink, but better-it's the same main programmer. I use Nero 7 with Recode 2 along with a certain ripper (the one no longer being updated) without significant problems for my backup needs.

Recode2 is definitely the best for backing up your movies though.
Overall it has the best quality out of all the major DVD ripping programs and it's not too slow, it only takes about an hour for most films. In conjunction with AnyDVD it can copy ANY FILM.

I've backed up hundred's of films with not one failing to copy.
