ok, I wiped out NERO 7 and installed NERO 9 ... I am continuing to have the same problem. It seems to take like 20 mins to load and it seems to lockup when I use it. Since NERO 7 starting locking up on me, it seems to effect the whole computer ... even when I am not using NERO. I have ran anti-virus program, and defraged the computer but nothing seems to clear up the problem.

Is there anything that can resolve this issue I am having?? Besides wiping out my whole entire HD??

Hey lancmale.... Dont wipe yet!!!! Believe it or not I was having the same problem until yesterday. Sad to say that I have gotten no help through this site but I will still continue to search this site when I have more problems. Question.... Do you have any problems with any of your dvd drives???

    @lancmale
What do you use Nero for, burning, converting? What OS do you run it on?
Do you have a "legit" copy of Nero, or "acquired"(I had a similar problem with an "acquired" copy a while back).

@jerzmo80 - Do you have any problems with any of your dvd drives?

Yes they are still working, but they seem to lockup or take forever to load as well.

@cyprusrom - What do you use Nero for, burning, converting? Burning

What OS do you run it on? Windows Vista Basic

Do you have a "legit" copy of Nero, or "acquired" Legit - Im still using my NERO 7 - FREE TRAIL

@mediaseo - Nope, still having problems!!

I uninstalled NERO 9 trail and reinstalled it, I got it to burn 3 discs (backing up my files from my computer) and then same issues started up again. Another thing I noticed is that it doesnt play my avi's correctly in windows media player anymore as well ... that problem just happened after having all these other problems appeared as well. I have ran program after program trying to find a virus or whatever, but they never seem to come up with anything!!

What did you guys seem to do to fix this problem? What kills me is the lag time of my computer startup and program startups as well.

Lancmale... Exactly what part does it start to act up. When I had the problem, it was when I opened smartstart, and then tried to continue from there it would freeze. Does your problem start as soon as you run nero??

lancmale. what I did to solve my problem was simply go to my computer, right click, click uninstall on the dvd drive I was having the most problem with (I couldnt open tbe drive without the help of a paper clip)and rebooted. After that, my nero started working like it used to. No freezing or anything. The reason I tried that method is because when I opened Nero Burning Rom, I noticed that it was scanning for devices and that is where it would freeze. Just to let you know, I am running windows xp, I'm not sure if it would be that simple for Vista. Best of luck to ya.

Jerzm80 ... the problem happens when I reboot the computer (my computer use to boot up in right away, now it takes up to 20 mins to boot), Whenever I click on the recycle bin and other items that require some kind of respond from the computer, takes an xtra long time to respond. The messed up part is my IE, Safari and whatever I do to excess the internet doesnt seem to be effect. Its completely pissing me off ... this problem has been going on for 5 days now.

You said something about the DVD drive doors not opening, that has been going on for awhile now, so you had the same problem?? All ya did was uninstalled them and did what to them?? Very curious to know more about this. I dont have a problem of them reading discs, the only problem I have is it does seldemly not open when a disc is in, but 99% of the time I have to stick a paper slip in to open the drive door when a disc IS NOT in the drive?!

    Thanks for the info

I have never had to reboot the computer b/c of the drive door not opening.

Is there an alternative program to NERO?? Ive looked around but havent seen anything that runs quite like NERO does, lol!

If you only use Nero for burning, the best alternative is ImgBurn.

First off did you used the NeroCleanTool? Then run the latest update which also can be found here? Also did you somehow disable something in services for it not to work?
