I'm trying to burn backed up dvd's from dvd shrink. I've been able to successfully burn divx to dvd's but when I try to burn a shrinked disk it dies everytime. I'm not sure why it's doing this but I'll post the log.

These are POOR quality discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in Japan)

Burning way too fast, even for GOOD quality discs, slow burn to 4X

Update firmware to KSOB from here

Never had a problem with the disks or the speed before the great hard drive crash of '07.

I own the very same drive, I have had better luck using this firmware,
    KC4B,available here.
    http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html#SOHW-1693S
Gives better playback on all of my problem standalone DVD players at home and in the Mini-van. Give it a shot.
