To find out if your DMA is turned on go here (assuming you have XP):

    Right click on My Computer
    Click Properties
    Click Hardware
    Click Device Manager
    Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
Right click on Primary IDE Channel
    Click on Properties
    Click on Advanced Settings

Check the Transfer Mode on both Device 0 & 1
Both should say DMA if available.

I hope this helps. The pictures didnt show up for me either, seems there is a link issue there.

It may say DMA if available, but what does it say under current transfer mode? Sometimes if you have multiple errors the transfer mode will revert to PIO.

If that is not the case, go ahead and post a burn log for us to look at for you.

Ok so I checked and for Device 0 it says Ultra DMA Mode 5.
For Device 1 it says Not Applicable. Ok so i'll try posting up a burn log by tomorrow.

Depending on how you are setup your dvd drive may be on your secondary channel. Use the same process as above only click on secondary instead of primary, if that option is available.

Hey ViperJatt, sorry I can't help, but I share your frustration. I too have the same issue, I'm thinking it maybe some updates I put in. I read some threads and tried the uninstall DMA, restart the self reinstall them. The current transfer mode was set on IPO now after install its on Ultra DMA mode 2 on primary and Ultra DMA mode 5 on secondary. With that done, I tried again to no avail (still took "4 1/2 hrs to burn"). So if anyone out there knows whats going on please help us!

Are you actually burning or are you trans coding AND burning? If your using Nero Vision 8 I assume your taking AVI files, MPEG files, or something of that nature, and loading them in Vision? If so it is completely normal for it to take 3 hours to "burn" a DVD. I am on a Pentium 4 w/ HT, 1.25 GB of RAM. It's obviously an out dated rig and by all means on 2 Pass, it is more then normal to take 2-4 hours.
