Hi there, Upgraded to Nero 8 from 6.5 last weekend. First thing I did was burning a 2 hour DVD while using one of these fancy 3D menus (children building blocks). In the preview in Vision all worked fine, but once burned on a disc, the menu is no longer working (not in my Philips DVD player, nor in my PC). After the disc launched , the main menu appears. As soon as i click on the sole selection in there it brings me to my 3 title pages. But then it goes wrong : instead of waiting on the first title page, the player 'browses' automatically from title page 1 , to title page 2 to halt on title page 3. Clicking on any item on that title page displays a monochrome medium grey screen with 1 singel icon (a solid square used as 'stop' button). Pushing on the play button of my remote starts my movie. I can browse between the chapters... Anybody any idea ? Thanks Hugo
This is what the burning log says : "Failed to set configuration dialog for Smart3D template 'BabyBoom'" Known to anybody ? Hugo
OK, I tried another menu from the Smart 3D. This time I used the abacus. Same problem. After clicking on the main menu title the DVD jumps to the chapter page 1 , imediately followed by chapter page 2 and finaly 3 where it waits. Is anybody actualy READING this forum ?.... I wonder... Hugo
Gugu2008 What is your system look like ? How did you install Nero 8 ? (update ? new install?) How did you get Nero 8 ? Donwload from Nero.com or bought in a box ? Hugo
I have a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz with 1.5Mb of RAM under Windows XP. My version of Nero is 8.3.7.1, but I don't think that it's hardware related. I had Nero 6 installed and I just upgraded to version 8 last week or so. I upgraded it via nero.com. I successfully created the DVD but with the standard 2D menu template. I think there is a bug with the Smart3D templates. Maybe it will be corrected in the next update from Nero. Well I hope so! But still, i'd like to be able to use every option from a software that I bought.
Hi Gugu, Sounds familiar with my situation. Recently upgraded to Nero 8 just to discover that several features are not working... Since I'm using Vista, I'm not even able to use Nero's ImageDrive anymore...Not compatible with Vista. On the other hand : I'm also pushing the Smart3D menu problem via a French Forum. To be honest : it's more 'lively' then this one... ;-) Let's blame it on the holiday season... The official forum offered by Nero.com (My nero) is even worse. The ratio 'replies' versus 'reads' is really for crying out loud... ;-) Anyway : as soon as any source I tried (Nero.com, French Forum, ...) comes with a solution or at least explanation, I'll post it here too. good night, Hugo
Hi Gugu, I'll keep it in English on this forum (since that looks to be the common language here ;-) The forum in France is this one (link brings you straight to my topic : http://fr.neroforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=3206657#3206657 To be honest , I'm not a native French speaker. I'm just a lucky guy mastering (more or less...) 4 languages (mothertongue Flemish) a+ Hugo
The answer from Nero arrived Dear Mr. x, thank you for your e-mail. We were able to reproduce these problems with the latest version of Nero 8 and our development team is already working on these issues. I hope that these problems will be solved with the next update. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Best Regards, Marco Jäckle Nero Support
Hi, After Googling about this very problem, I found this forum, so hi all! I have the same problem as described above. System Specs: Vista Ultimate, 4Gb RAM Intel Core2 Quad Nero 8 full version. I was editing a wedding video I shot and had just finished compiling all the clips. I used Nero Vision to create the DVD Menus, and used the Smart3D "Around the World" template. Everything appeared to create ok, and using the on screen preview it all worked as I wanted it to. However, on I burned it to disc I got the same issues Flapperke had. The Main menu would appear, then without pressing any buttons it would browse to the first sub-menu, then the second. Clicking on the single item on the second menu actually caused my DVD player to lock up! Having read the post here, I decided to try going back in and changing the template from Smart3D to Animated 2D, and used the Around the World 2D template instead. On burning this disc, I had exactly the same problem with it :-( I suspect that the 3D template has got some screwed up pointers in the menu structure, and simply switching templates will preserve the error. My next idea is to start from scratch with a 2D template and re-create the menus. If this works, then at least I'll know for sure. If anyone has any other ideas, I' open to suggestions!
...And I get the same message: "Dear Mr. x, thank you for your e-mail. We were able to reproduce the problem and it will be fixed with one of our future updates of Nero 8. Please be patient a little while until this update is available and kindly excuse any inconvenience." What a pain. Still, at least they *are* working on it.
HI! I have he same problem. It seems we need to wait for Neros Mercy! Anybody knows when to expect a new update?
bump! having the exact same problem. coincidentally, using the 'around the world' template as well. dvd preview works fine, but when i pop in the finished dvd into a player, it will just cycle through all the chapter menus, stopping on the last page. any attempt to navigate to another page will just end up bringing me back to the last page. if i simply try to play that last scene, my dvd player locks up. i hope nero is still trying to correct this. has anyone found a solution?
Still no word from Nero other than the standard email over a month ago. Given that I bought Nero 8 specifically to sort out this DVD, I wonder if I have any chance of getting a refund... At the moment my plan is to start over using Nero 7 on my old laptop, which will take several hours to sort out again.
I have the same issue with the 2D templates not working, but all others seem to work. Does anyone else have a burn time difference between the template types you use. 2.66 GHz Pentium 4, 1.5 GB RAM, Windows XP, Nero 8 Have a 2.5 hour long DVD made of home movie clips. 2.5 hours for 2D standard 4.5 hours for 2D animated 7.5 hours for 3D animated Took the same amount of time when I only had 750 MB RAM. So increasing RAM doesn't affect the burn time. Burn time onto the DVD is only about 15 minutes once the files are created on the computer. Have no idea why the template types make this much difference on the burn time? Are others having this problem?
