    I get a message saying...

"A system reboot was requested by a previous software installation (e.g. a Windows update).
Please reboot your computer to resume the installation of Nero 8."

I have rebooted the computer...oh, 12 times now. I still get the same message every single time I try to install. I can't get anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

    I'm running with
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor 4400+2300 mhz
    Microsoft Vista Home Premium
    Aspire M1200
    X86-based PC
    Installed Physical memory 2.00 GB
    Total physical memory 1.75 GB

Anything else you need let me know.

Is this installation from a download or directly from a disc?

    What was the Windows update?
Hope you know that Nero 8 doesn't work with DVD Shrink.

    I know.
I don't have DVD shrink on the PC.
As to what the update is. It didn't say specifically. What you see in the first post in quotations is the actual message I get. It gives an (i.e.) that's it.

I'm confused...any help would be appreciated.

This doesn't mean it necessarily was a Windows update just that "for example a Windows update". What else on your machine is set to update automatically, perhaps in the backround with you unaware (antivirus or anti spyware apps)? If you strongly suspect a Windows update then go to the Windows Update page and search your "update history" for the dates and types of your latest (or all) updates. That should narrow down the culprit. Updates that are removed can just as easily be updated again by process of elimination
