I've read throuhg your threads and could not find a solution to my problem. I deleted my existing nero and installed nero 6.6.0.14. I could not install 6.6.0.18. There are problems with some dll files I downloaded from the links you gave to download 6.6.0.18. I have tried to change some preferences in DVDshrink, but no dice. I am now so confused because I do not know what the original setting were. Here is the error fault. Could you please give me a solution or tell me what am I doing wrong.

couldn't find the 2.57 firmware for your drive.... the latest firmware shows a 2.25 version found here:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1920
I hope you didn't do a firmware upgrade to a wrong version? or did it come with your drive that way?

you're at the minimum on RAM ..... and you're using too much of it! shut down any unnecessary programs running in the background.... no internet.... no multi tasking..... better yet add more RAM!!

your media is ok but I only use the best stuff.... Made in Japan... Taiyo Yuden.... or you can buy Verbatim ...... when things go wrong, eliminate any media problem!

burning too slow can be just as bad as burning too fast! burn at half the rated speed of the disk (if it's an 8x disk then burn at 4x).

    this can't be good!
    04****Hardware error
There are many cases where the cause is the R/RW drive itself. If the problem is not solved when you try the suggested actions, get your drive checked.

more questions about your drive... like having the wrong firmware???

The file is from Roxio, or also can come in through WinAmp. If Roxio installed then he/she will need Roxio Zapper to uninstall the program. As these program do not play well together.

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

try to update to a better version of Nero:
    Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only:
    http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php
update package 1 and package 2 ONLY!
reboot and you're good to go!

I hope this helps..... there is lots to do but if you follow these instructions then you'll have a better chance at being more successful! good luck and welcome to Afterdawn!
