hello all, newbie so be gentle, i have nero 6.6.0.16 installed and when the application is running, it sometimes tries to connect to the internet. the only reason i know is that NIS has a popup saying nero.com is trying to access the internt and is low risk ? permit / block. i am wondering is anyone knows why this is the case. in the preferences i do not connect to the internet databases. thanks in advance
As far as Im aware it justs connect for a brief time to check for updates. No other reason. Under smart start..preferences..you should be able to select this so it wont check for updates....but remeber every once in a while to manually check. Hope this helps.
thanks however i cannot find the preferences in either startsmart nor nero burning rom where there is an option about checking for updates
tshba1 When you have smart start open in the bottom right hand corner you'll see a circle w/ a flame in - click on that. The automatic check for updates option is there.
thanks binkie7, in fact the automatic check for update box is not ticked. therefore back to my original question, how come nero tries to connect to the internet because it is not connecting to update
I'm at a loss then. That's the only time that I know nero connects to the internet unless you ask it to. Sorry.
I dunno if this is sumsorta bug in nero or what, but i've had trouble with nero wanting to connect to the internet even when i tell my firewall to block it...?? strange :/.
download 'tcpview' from here - http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html - i use it now and then, it's brilliant for showing network traffic, and would help you prove/disprove if it's Nero that's trying to contact the internet or something else on your system...
