    Hello All,

I have Nero Backup 6.6.1.4. I tried a backup of a hard drive. It spanned 3 DVD-RW's. Aside from the initial warning about possible data confirmation problems since the drive was being used (I doubt that it was) it told me that I had a successful backup.

I tried to restore it without any success. There were no nbi files that it was looking for. The first DVD-RW has DAT (TDK Digital Mixmaster Media).msg files as well as nrestore.cfg and nrestore.exe files. The second and third have only DAT (TDK Digital Mixmaster Media).msg files. This happened with two tries with new DVD-RW's.

    I am running XP Pro.

I tried a drive backup of a small USB data stick on one CD and had a similar problem. The backups of individual files and folders worked fine and created the nbi file.

Any idea as to what is wrong?

    Thanks.

Would it do the same thing if the regular backup were used including all of the hard drive as opposed to the backup hard

I did what you said and it did not work. I did get some more sensible data files, but no nbi files on the CD.

I tried installing the program on another computer and had the same results.

    Any other thoughts?

    have you try using a DVD+R or DVD-R instead of a DVD-RW ?

I would rather not waste a DVD-R would a CD-R do as an experiment? I could back up a small memory stick drive.
