Help!!! Before I give up, could someone look at my log and give me any hints as to what to try next. I use DVD shrink, then Nero, it gets to around 50% burned, then errors out with "burn process failed at 2.4x). I have tried everything mentioned in these forums I think! The only thing I have not tried is a different media. I am using TDK. Here is the log:

    Hi,

It may help to use ForceASPI 1.8 which installs version 4.71.2. Version 4.71 had compatibility issues which may be causing your problem.

From your log it looks like you've got your settings and such squared away.

You mentioned having only used one type of media so it would probably be a good thing to try some other makes such as Ritek G04, Verbatim Metal AZO, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden. The Verbatims and Maxells can usually be found in retail stores so you can only pick up a few for testing if you want :)

Thanks for checking out my log. Just tried that, failed again....

I guess I'll try a different media and if that doesn't work, I may just have to give up!

    mloupagu,

Have you checked if there is a firmware upgrade for your burner?

Hi, yes. The burner is brand new, I made sure that I had the latest drivers loaded.

    mloupagu,

Have you tried updating your aspi layer, like Nephilim suggested?

get the latest ver of dvd decryptor and use that to backup to ur h/d then use the write option to burn it on to ur media

that only works for dvd-5. With dvd-9 you could still use shrink (set uotput file to iso) and try burning with dvd decrypter (mode-iso-write)

I've the same problem. Tried the HP software - burns fail partway in. Then the USB device disappears from time to time (as if though I pulled it's plug).

Tried different media - HP and Fuji DVD+RW - and also a replacement unit (possibly a return from someone else with the same problem - who can tell).

One thing I noticed is that burns first thing in the am work fine. Perhaps a heat issue.

    Keep us (me) posted. skrabba@hotmail.com

I placed the unit near an A/C vent, and my problem went away. Seems like a heat problem to me.

    Hi everyone.

I too had a problem with Nero 6 and also Alchohol 120%. In Alchohol the DVD image would fail to load, and in Nero I got [bold]SCSI Command Abort[/bold].

I'd had the problem about 1 week ago and unable to solve it, I decided to reformat my pc as I was getting a few other probs too. Everything was fine after I reinstalled, Nero and Alchohol started burning CD's and DVD's again.

Then yesterday, the problem started again!! Same error messages as before. I was determined to get to the bottom of it, as I wasnt going to reinstall again. I tried everything, removing the ASPI layer, updating the ASPI layer with the latest adaptec drivers. I tried ForceASPI - Nothing worked.

Eventually I managed to get the CD-RW burning CD's again but the DVD-RW wouldnt burn a DVD or a CD. I'd read all over the net on various forums about the same problem "SCSI Command Aborted". The only thing people could suggest was the ASPI layer.

This shouldn't be the case, as Nero should work without having the adaptec ASPI layer, as it has its own ASPI layer imbedded. Many people suggest trying adaptec ASPI - if that doesnt work for people, try Nero's, failing that ForceASPI.

I read on one forum a comment about uninstalling the drives and reinstalling the windows drivers. So I went into control panel, system, hardware, device manager and uninstalled my cd/dvd roms and rebooted and upon reload - there was no change!!??

This puzzelled me, then about 30 minutes later I realised what the guy was saying and that I had misinterpretted it.......doh!!!

I went back into device manager and looked at the IDE ATA/ATAPI settings. Id seen mentioned on my travels something about Nvidia controlling the devices was causing a problem or words to that effect.

So I click on the Nvidia NForce controller and selected "update driver" Windows did a search and suddenly the driver changed to "standard dual channel PCI IDE Controller" - windows default driver.

I rebooted as prompted and upon restart I fired up Nero. I wasnt expecting it to work as Id tried everything else and it'd failed. I loaded the image and clicked burn. Nero made it past the leadin, and went on to burn the disk sucessfully!!!!!!!!

For some reason the motherboard Nforce2 driver, which I thought was just for my sound, actually swaps virtually all the windows default control drivers to Nvidia ones for things like IDE control, memory, AGP etc etc. By removing the Nvidia control driver on the IDE and restoring the windows dual channel driver - the conflict was removed!

I hope this helps some of the many people out there that have the same problem. A big thank you to guy, whoever it was, that pointed out the IDE driver problem - sorry I forgot your name and where I read it - but THANK YOU!! :)
