Where are the error burn logs located in Vista? Or, are you suppose to copy the error log when it shows up in a window. Thanks.
See if this thread gwen pointed me to helps you find the log for Vista - link. I think they found it by clicking on compatible files in the core folder for nero. Let us know if you find it and where.
Nothing in my core folder says compatible files. There are no links to be found anywhere. There are remnants of Nero 6 on my computer. I'm going to use the Nero clean tool to remove Nero 6, then 7 and will start all over again.
Hmmm then I don't know where that poster from the link found the logs - now I'm very curious. After you do the clean install you'll need to burn something 1st for Nero to start a log.
Hey LDLDL Haven't heard back on where the logs are saved - they may be on vacation. Worst case I'll email Nero. Try and do a search for Nero Burn Error or something close to that. Another member did a windows search and found them that way. It would also give the path for further reference.
try typing in nero log in start search in vista, it may show something, if you saved a copy some where from a burn, if you did not save it, i could not find them either. gl
I'll email someone at Nero Monday and see if I can find out where it is. Don't hold your breathe though Though I may get lucky
Ok I heard from Nero. They said the logs are in the same path but their hidden by default. You can change this setting in Vista. In Windows Explorer, just pull down the Tools menu, click Folder Options, click the View tab, and select “Show Hidden Files and Folders.” Then click Okay. Try that and let us know.
Hi I tried that, under search, but nothing new came up, did not go into the programs, being the search did not show anything? thanks
Ok if you made the 'hidden' files/folders 'unhidden' try the path again = program files>nero>nero 7>core>Nerohisotry (should be a text file).
i am running vista with nero 7 i found out were the log is after you finish your project nero will ask if you wish to save the project you must say yes a box will drop down asking were you want to save the project that is your log for your project it open up with note pad
Finally, I found it! However, it only showed a log from 6/26 and I've had many errors since then. Also, I've downloaded and deleted and downloaded more than five times since then. Go figure. Nero has never asked me to save a file. Binkie7... you've been a great help! I deleted Nero, ran the clean tool and for the first time ran CCleaner... didn't realize how much crap I had on this NEW computer. I also forgot to mention in my previous posts that when I got the computer I bought a cable to transfer files. That didn't go too well. Then I bought the cable for transfering files from an XP computer to a Vista computer. What a dissaster. I was on the phone with Microsoft for Three Hours!!! I thought that might have been my problem all along, however, I really think it's the HP DVD (cheap) burner. I'm going to go with the HP I talked about only because I have a $50 gift certificate with Best Buy... And they don't carry Lite/on. Worst case, I'll put it in, if it works, I'll keep it, if not, I'll return it.
It has been my experience that Nero automatically "SAVES" your History log to a "GIVEN" location whether you get that message or not. I think it asks if you want to save the log so that you can INDIVIDUALLY save each log of "your choice" to a self selected folder. ALL history logs, prior to Vista were saved Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory
There is no nero history file in nero7 ichecked core files on my computer the only way is to save it yourself
@david66 Did you try making the hidden files and folders 'unhidden'? @LDLDL You're welcome. Yeah you'd be surprised how much junk gets leftover even on new pc's. Where did you finally find the file? Nero does also give you an option to save the file. But in the pop up it also has a check box next to a message something like this 'don't show this message again'. When you click the box you won't get the message to save it where ever you like but according to Nero they are still saved.
