I can't complain as this is the first time in many years I've made a coaster, and the first time I've ever done it with a DVD-R. I've got no clue what this log file is trying to tell me so I was hoping someone could interpret it for me. JFTR, I'm using the same blanks I've used many times before (same batch, too) and I always burn at 4x with no problems EVER until now. FYI I was burning a DVD I reauthored with DVD Shrink. Hi Modtang, Has anything, anything at all, changed in your systems configuration recently? New hardware or software installled? The Nero Log file is reporting a Queueing error, which means the recorder is busy and will not accept any commands. If this continues, it eventually times-out and reports an error message. How is your recorder connected to the system? Your Nero Log file fails to show an Adaptor driver, which would normally indicate a USB or Firewire connection. However, the DMA setting shows OFF. And normally it would show with a '?' mark next to the DMA setting for USB or Firewire. So it's causing me some confusion. If you do have USB or Firewire, have you added any new devices to the bus recently? Or changes cables, etc? Regards, Craig
modtang.. i have a dru510a and have apparently the exact same problem... everything was working find until some strange day.. i had burnt one dvd then soon after i tried another and i get a coaster.. same media and everything.. i updated the firmware to 1.1a after that but still nothing.. then i thought maybe it was service pack 2s fault.. so i reinstalled windows.. and still the the error with sp1.. i just tried burning the exact same dvd unto a rewritable and it worked fine.. i have no idea what is causing this or why it would start up randomly.. i'll keep trying different things and running my simulations until i figure it out.. please let me know if you figure anything out yourself.. its driving me crazy: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - It's only happened to me that one time. Plus the other night I was trying to burn 2 DivX files onto a CD-R and I got error after error but I got past that one as well (I'm sure it was a dodgy disk, even though I buy TDKs). I've upgraded Nero since the original post so I think that fixed whatever it was. It may have even been a dodgy install on my end. Not 100% sure and I guess I will never know now. Here's the log. It says something about fixation. I had it happen years ago with an old CD burner but I never figured out exactly what caused it. =/ ====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ====== Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.68, size=160016 bytes, created 22/07/2004 5:33:44 PM Nero version: 6.3.1.20 Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-510A> Version: 1.1a - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.3.1.20 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 8192kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <SONY DVD RW DRU-510A >Version: 1.1a - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.3.1.20 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST380011A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : FUJITSU MPB3032ATU atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DRU-510A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === SONY DVD RW DRU-510A F: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 74448896 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 511MB (523764kB) Free physical memory: 124MB (127532kB) Memory in use : 75 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 24.9.2004 CD-ROM (ISO) 3:38:57 PM #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6065 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : TAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 3:38:57 PM #2 Phase 94 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1855 Power-Burn activated 3:38:57 PM #3 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 126 Reader running 3:38:57 PM #4 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 124 Writer SONY DVD RW DRU-510A running 3:38:57 PM #5 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:38:57 PM #6 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3173 Turn on Track-at-once, using CD-R/RW media 3:38:58 PM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 247 Last possible write address on media: 359845 ( 79:59.70) Last address to be written: 356108 ( 79:10.08) 3:38:58 PM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 259 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 3:38:58 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2162 Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-510A; CDR code: 00 97 26 66; OSJ entry from: CMC Magnetics Corporation ATIP Data: Special Info [hex] 1: D0 00 98, 2: 61 1A 42 (LI 97:26.66), 3: 4F 3B 47 (LO 79:59.71) Additional Info [hex] 1: 00 00 00 (invalid), 2: 00 00 00 (invalid), 3: 00 00 00 (invalid) 3:38:58 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 420 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 3:38:58 PM #11 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 813 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 356109 (356109) = #356109/79:8.9 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 356107 blocks [SONY DVD RW DRU-510A ] -------------------------------------------------------------- 3:38:58 PM #12 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 984 Prepare recorder [SONY DVD RW DRU-510A ] for write in TAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Session Closed, disc fixated Tracks 1 to 1: 1: TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048/0x00, FilePos 0 307200 729618432, ISRC "" DAO layout: =========== __Start_|____Track_|_Idx_|_RecDep_|_CtrlAdr_ -150 | lead-in | 0 | 0x00 | 0x41 -150 | 1 | 0 | 0x00 | 0x41 0 | 1 | 1 | 0x00 | 0x41 356109 | lead-out | 1 | 0x00 | 0x41 3:38:58 PM #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1030 Removed 2 run-out blocks from end of track 1. Hi Modtang, I see you resolved the DMA issue for your Sony Recorder, and that in iteself could have helped resolve your issue, maybe. And this last log file you provided now shows a Power Calibration error, instead of the Queueing error, and that's a whole different issue. You can type in Power Calibration Error in the Search feature of this forum and come up with a number of possible causes and solutions. Media being the most likely suspect. Regards, Craig Ahead Software USA
