-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So when i start to burn it says that it will take 13 minutes and 50 seconds. Throughout the burn it keeps upping the time and finally finished at 24 minutes. I have also noticed that just transfering files between hard drives will pause and not do anything for a while, then resume and continue working until they pause again. I have check and made sure that the harddrives are in DMA mode and NOT in PIO mode. Here's the log from nero. Any help is appreciated. 1K22-0867-0795-66M4-5391-6465-**** Windows XP 6.0 IA32 WinAspi: - NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 8.0.3.0 Internal Version: 8, 0, 3, 0 (Nero Express) Recorder: <HP DVD Writer 640c> Version: JS04 - HA 1 TA 1 - 8.0.3.0 Adapter driver: <USB 2.0> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : set to ATAPI CD-ROM: <MAT****A BD-RE UJ-225S >Version: Q111 - HA 1 TA 0 - 8.0.3.0 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : WDC WD2500BEVS-75UST0 iaStorV Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === MAT****A BD-RE UJ-225S E: CdRom0 HP DVD Writer 640c J: CdRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 2047MB (2097151kB) Free physical memory: 1863MB (1908512kB) Memory in use : 43 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 19.11.2008 UDF/ISO compilation 5:02:46 PM #1 Text 0 File SCSIPTICommands.cpp, Line 424 LockMCN - completed sucessfully for IOCTL_STORAGE_MCN_CONTROL 5:02:46 PM #2 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1762 DVD-Video files reallocation started 5:02:46 PM #3 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1762 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 5:02:46 PM #4 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6668 UDF document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 UDF Mode : UDF/ISO bridge UDF Options : automatic UDF Revision : 1.02 UDF Partition Type : physical ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 5:02:46 PM #5 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1762 DVD-Video files sorted 5:02:46 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3345 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 5:02:46 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3345 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 5:02:46 PM #8 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3520 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 5:02:51 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 307 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB) 5:02:51 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 319 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 5:02:51 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2972 Recorder: HP DVD Writer 640c, Media type: DVD+RW Disc Manufacturer ID: MKM, Media Type ID: A02, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 0 5:02:51 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 493 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Insert empty disc to write to. Is the USB burner getting the data from a USB hard drive for the burn. I wonder if them both sharing the same bus causes a slowdown.
Yes. I have been using a usb external harddrive to an external usb burner for a long time now. This has just recently happened though.
Place the files that are to burned on the internal HD and burn a disk. If it burns at normal speed, you know it isn't a burner problem.
