    Hi Guys.

I hope you guys are not getting too sick of getting Nero error logs, but man, it seems every case has it's own subtleties...

Could someone please check my log and see if they see where I am going wrong. I really appreciate it.

    Cheers.
    Davo.

your burner is 2 firmware updates behind:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=302
    from 2.0g to 2.1a

Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition.
this is a Roxio/Sonic file or from WinAmp and sometimes they interfere with Nero.... when having problems with Nero it's wise to uninstall the Roxio/Sonic program to avoid problems!

try using better media..... although MKM is supposed to be quality media but as a rewritable.....try another brand and see if that works.

also are you trying to copy a store bought DVD directly without breaking the encryptions that stop it from being directly copied? what are you trying to do?

<9>I have a Power calibration error?
Options you can try with "power calibration errors"
o Try another brand of DVD-/+R or DVD-/+RW media. This is the most common cause of OPC errors.
o "Slow down your burning speed".
o Update the firmware of your recorder. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
o Check your power connectors, loose connections do occur. Don't share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the errors occurs with an external recorder, Check the USB cable and connections.
o Try different configurations, such as taking the DVD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.
o Clean or have your DVD burner serviced. There are cleaning kits available. Sometimes just a gentle appplication of canned air can remove dust blocking the laser.
    o Replace the DVD burner.
lets hope we don't need to do the last one :)

hope this helps. and welcome to AfterDawn.

Thanks a stack guys. I did recently upgrade my firmware to 2.0g. Obviously it wasn't the latest one.

It seems to have worked though. Also, I don't think the DVD's I am using are all that good. I suppose it pays to spend a bit more on quality discs..

    Cheers.

Actually, your discs are very good. Verbatim media is the best it gets.

Edited due to sheer blindness on my part ;-)

this is an RW disk... not Dual layer. Verbatim DL codes out to MKM 001, and this is MKM A02
