Not sure if there is a more generic 'Nero' forum for this. Nephilim will let me know, aye? I get this when trying to programmatically check for updates within Nero... Nero SmartStart: Connection with the server could not be established. You have to be connected to the Internet. I am connected to the Internet, blast-it-all. This has happened since I originally installed Nero, back I think V6.3. Anyway, it's just annoying. I have tried all the Nero published utilities to eradicate Nero from my system. Then re-install but I still get the same error. Ideas???
have you tried uninstall, go into the registry & remove it from there, defrag the drive than reinstall nero??
ahhh... there you go being funny again ddp - Just kidding! Yea I've tried everything including removing everything associated with NERO (that I can search on) from the registry. I didn't exactly try a defrag afterward, however, so I'll take your lead... tried everything else. What I was hopiing for was that someone from Ahead SW would see this post as I've seen direct commentary on other forums from Ahead employee's/management???? Thanks ddp for your input!
did you check the nero faq site & there used to be a campbell member from nero on this site but haven't seen his name past 2months?
Hi Regor, What type of internet connection do you have? Do you have any AnitVirus software installed, or Firewall? If so, what? Do you have any AddWare blocker or anything you can think of that may prevent our software from connecting to the internet? Regards, Craig
Hi Craig - Thanks for the reply. It's a DSL connection, Although this system is behind a firewall I know I'm not doing anything different with this than any other system on my network. My notebook for example checks for updates just fine. I have tried both routable and nat addresses. I can get to the Ahead website by clicking the link within the Nero gui. I do have adaware and spybot on my systems but they are not configured to block anything, just manually detect when run. I have Symantec antivirus. R
