WindowsXP Plextor DVD Writer PX-716UF Nero Burning Rom 6 Hi! I’ve read through your awesome forum/site many times but have just finally registered! I’m having a hard time backing up data and graphics from my internal and external HD (each 2G, I believe, both almost full). I was temporarily using Roxio Drag to Disk until I got fed up with problems I was having and learned it is not reliable. I intended to burn all of that data eventually...but needed to quickly make room on my pc and just went with Roxio for that purpose. Began using Nero Burning Rom 6 to burn my files. The problem is I cannot remove write-protection in order to add additional files (it is set properly). I fill the dvd 1/2-way, then receive message that I cannot add files (or work with burned files) because disk is write-protected. I am getting nowhere fast. I want to be able to organize burned data and add to individual dvd disks in the future. I’ve always felt squeamish about backing up and have paid the consequences in the past. No matter how much I’ve read on the topic, I still just don’t know which software and method is best for backing up. I work with graphics the majority of the time and want to have easy access to these files. Please help! I so appreciate it!
on thing nero and roxio don't play well togeather so get rid of roxio, and use the clean tool to remove all traces of roxio and thain you should have no more problems
Thanks for responding! I actually learned (the hard way) how to remove Roxio completely. The problems I'm having are these: 1) While writing to disk, once I reach the 1/2-way point, I receive an error message and "Nero must close." 2) If I have successfully burned to disk, great, but I can't then add add'l. data to same disk...I receive a message stating disk is write-protected (even though it was not set this way)and I am only using 1/2 the disk so that I canadd add'l. items at a later time. Thanks again!
if you finalised the disk you can not add more to the disk again, make sure if you want to add more data to the disk at another time you use the option make a multisection data disk
