nero burning rom question

hi

i was having problems copying dvds from my master dvds made from video tapes.i made 6 dvds with no problems the just before the burning proc-
ess started i get a message saying im using the wrong software.it said
i needed dvd-r/rw(im using dvd-r blank dvds).it went on to say that i need to config the burning rom to be able to burn these type of discs
(either cd-r or the dvd-r/rw)type media.how do i config the nero 7 burning rom?anyone no??thanks.
