Not sure if this is the correct forum - my apologies to the mods if I should post it elsewhere.

I am using Nero 6 to burn AV files as data to Maxell and Verbatim DVD, both R and RW. The driver has begun to not recognise Nero burned discs; when this occurs, the Nero disc info tool reads that the disc is empty. Restarting the computer, or reinserting the disc several times will sometimes solve the problem and allow me to access the data, but its becoming more and more frequent.

I don't see a driver update option on the firmware page for my driver, but it's fairly newly purchased (6 months). I have begun to wonder if there's something within the burning process that I'm doing incorrectly. Does the fact that the discs will indeed 'play' once in a while indicate the problem must be with the driver?

If so, could some kind soul point me toward the correct forum for solving?

(I have the Nero System Info saved if needed, but, as I'm fairly new at this, am not sure if there are serials I need to remove before posting.)

Sounds like the drive may be on it's way out.
Can you post the Nero burn log?

Thanks for taking the time to read/reply.

I'd hate to think the drive was dying...its very new, and works perfectly with commercial CD/DVDs. Only the data discs I've burned with Nero ever present a problem, and even then, not all the time, (though its been happening with greater frequency).

You'd like to see the burn log for one of the discs that the drive doesn't recognise, yes? I'm afraid I don't have one, as each of the burns was 'successful'. Once I check to see that the data has been transferred to DVD, I discard the log and (usually) the original file. It's only going back that I seem to have issues.

I could go ahead and burn something at random, if the log would help.

Post a log of the last successful burn.
