After importing video from Sony Digital8 camera via IEEE1396, and after placing chapter marks as warranted by the material, I encoded and burned a DVD--all using Nero 6 Ultra Suite. When I place the completed DVD-R in the set-top DVD player attached to my television, the menu comes up, but I can get no further. I can go to submenus, but whenever I try to play a chapter, the player spins awkwardly for a moment, and then reverts to the menu again. I've been able to replicate this (to my growing disappointment) with several DVD-R attempts and DVD-RW attempts, using different material. I read in another forum where Dela suggested pressing "1" or "2", then "play" to get past the menu (I believe with VCD or SVCD), but that doesn't seem to work with my player. Any and all suggestions or workarounds welcomed. Thanks in advance . . . .
I don't know the answer but I have had the same experience. Using Nero Recode I made an MP4 (Nero Digital) file of a DVD. I then used the MP4 with NeroVision Express and created chapters and menus and burnt a DVD. The DVD won't play an any of the players I have, other than on the computer. I don't think the menus are the problem, but rather the encoding of the title(s). I thought I'd make a copy of just the title without menus, but Nero Recode won't even read the disc and tells me there is an encoding error.
I to am having menu problems with Nero. Every dvd I burn, the menu's are non functional. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Please reread what I said I did. I didn't burn the MP4 to a DVD but used it as the video for Nero Vision to create a DVD (with .BUP, .IFO and .VOB files).
I never did find out why they don't work. I even asked Ahead's technical support and they ignored me (despite having a valid licence)! I did find that if I copied the non-functional DVD using Nero Burning ROM the copy worked without any problems. So now I use Nero Vision to create the DVD on the hard disk and then using Buring ROM to actually create the disk. A long way around but at least it works.
