Hi, I've had the same setup for over 3 years with NEVER any problems but suddenly I can't burn anything. I have a Memorex 16x DVDR burner (3202 3292) and I always use DVDShrink (which of course uses Nero to burn). I use Nero 6 which came with the burner. I've updated the burner firmware and updated Nero 6 but I still get an error every time I try to burn. It'll start burning and will end at different times. I have a stack of 10 coasters now. I can't understand how I could go so long with NO problems then this happens. I always use the same media too (Phillips DVD-R or +R). Any help would really be appreciated. you have 2 different Nero versions still on your computer.. not good: Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot! update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only: http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php reboot and you're good to go! You also installed InCD...... don't install it now! Packet writing utilities such as "InCD" are notorious for interfering with burn processes, as the way it works is to continually poll the burner to check for new media. This prevents the burn application gaining exclusive access to the burner, and sense code errors will happen - every time. Get rid of all packet writing utilities. They are more trouble than they are worth. this is a Roxio file....... get rid of Roxio as it sometimes interferes with Nero burning! uninstall it! you are using the worst known media that causes many problems! and you're trying to burn at 16x with that bad media, and : Nero doesn't even recognize this media! sooooooo how good was that firmware update? use better media..... Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim! rule of thumb on media: Best media is Made in Japan.... next comes Verbatim made in Singapore/Taiwan! Do not buy MADE IN INDIA media! do all these changes and you'll have better success!
Roxio or Sonic burning software (made by Roxio) is where you got this driver: Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS if you don't have these programs and this file is showing up, it's coming from winamp or another program like that. do all the other changes first and see if that helps.....

you did upgrade to the best version of Nero 6 but you still have the old version of 6.3.1.4 still on there! You obviously didn't use the Nero Cleaning tools that I gave you the link for! so that's one thing you didn't do! And you still didn't change your media that you are using! Go to the store and buy some Verbatim 8x media! Or buy the 16x media but read the label and make sure they are not MADE IN INDIA! changing your media is a big thing! those CMC MAGs are not being recognized! so you need to change it! And you are still burning at 16x which is too high... burn at 4x-8x! You still installed InCD which runs havoc on burning DVDs!!! so basically you didn't do anything but do an upgrade and you didn't even clean out your computer or use the Nero Cleaning tools that I told you to do! OF COURSE IT WILL FAIL AGAIN!! what did you expect? just doing a sloppy upgrade without cleaning out your computer will fix everything? And........ we didn't even discuss your burner yet!!!!
just an update with your drive....... the latest firmware for your burner is from 2006! Which means that your drive might have a problem with burning newer media that is made today. Try to get the 8x media that is out there! you'll have better luck with that!
I followed your steps exactly IMHOE. i used the Nero cleaner then the registry cleaner. i don't know why it still says that i have a different interface version of Nero. you have to understand that my setup worked fine for 3 years! why should i change to different media now? you may say it is bad media but they have been fine for me for 3 years! i need to get things back to working fine before, not buy a new drive, buy different media, change burn speed, etc. INCD should not have been installed because I did not select it to be installed. firmware was the latest from Memorex site. i bought a 16x burner so I could burn at 16x, not 4x. i appreciate your help. don't get me wrong. btw...my power went out (not a surge - just a 5 sec drop out) when i was encoding (not burning) a DVD a few days ago with DVD shrink. could that mess up the burner?
I'm sorry but it's obvious that the changes you made are not working! If you did use the Nero Cleaning tools and still you have InCD and another vesion of Nero on your computer, it is obvious that something is wrong here! I would do it all over again! 1. save serial # 2. uninstall Nero 3. use Nero cleaning tools 4. use CClean to clean out your computer and don't forget to use not just the CLEANER tab but do the REGISTRY tab, too! 5. then defrag 6. then reboot 7. then reinstall Nero..... DO NOT INSTALL InCD! 8. it's obvious that your media FOR WHAT EVER REASON is not being recognized by Nero or your burner! Get Verbatim. try again! now if you follow all of this and you still don't get any results... it just might be your burner..... THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO USE BETTER MEDIA.... so we can rule out the bad media! And see if it is your drive! but..... if you don't want to take advice, then don't ask..... I'm sorry if I am harsh...... but I'm really trying to help you out. I am trying to rule out any other possible problems.... but buying one disk or two at the store can't hurt... is it that much of a big deal? I don't understand you. If this can help you then why be so obstinate about it?
I tried it all again. Uninstalled Nero, used the Nero Clean tool from your link, then the cleaner (both tabs), defragged and rebooted. Installed Nero Burning ROM and Vision Express only (No INCD). Then both updates. checked firmware for drive again. then tried to burn at 4x and got this (which still says Using interface version: 6.3.1.4)! I know that burning at a slower speed or changing to different media might help but I am trying to get back to where I was where i could use the media I was before and burn at 16x. If my media was fine for 3 years, it should still be that way. I believe it is my drive that is shutting down in middle of a burn, not something to do with Nero. I don't know why out of nowhere my drive or Nero just decided to not recognize my media. I see that there isn't any InCD there...... good! finally! but I still don't understand if you did all the cleaning out that Nero tells you to why there is still another version of Nero 6 on your burner? Are you sure you did all of this: you did follow everything and then downloaded the cleaning tool and used it? turn off multisession before burning! and now the classic Power Calibration Error..... change disk....... ok.... let's talk media..... you'd be surprised how many times a manufacturer changes! I'm sorry but you keep using CMC MAG disks and you don't get any results! just because they USED TO WORK..... you don't know if the Manufacturer changed and their quality level has dropped! Ask around...... you keep using CMC MAGS....and you don't get results.... what used to work doesn't work now..... so you have to change..... Getting a Power Calibration Error is usually one of 2 things..... either it's your disk that you are using or it's your drive dying! Take your poison! depends on how bad of an electrical power outage!
