I know it is something that can be fixed but if gone through 3 coasters already and lots of time wasted due to crashes while ripping to the hatd drive. Ive managed to rip one DVD with DVD Shrink but the rest has failed. The log file is from Nero while i was trying to burn a data disc of random files to backup: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=45056 bytes, created 9/10/1999 1:06:00 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 1:35:32 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.8 (Nero Express) Recorder: <MAD DOG MD-16XDVD9A4> Version: 1.F0 - HA 2 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8 Adapter driver: <> HA 2 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? @kripto, Is this one any related to this one http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232693 it's pretty much the same thing on the DVD-R/+R for Newbies. However, this is the right forum for Nero, and in this case, may be have a Mod close the other thread? Just a side note here, your Nero is an outdated version, you'll need to update your Nero to the latest 6.6.0.16. If you can then update your dvd burner's firmware too if there is any current firmware available, go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and search for your model, and or you need to google around for a new firmware if there is one. I tried to look for your model, but the closest I find is Mad Dog MD - 16XDVD9 with current firmware 2.FA, other than that I'm not sure if it's yours or not. Sounds like your dvd burner doesn't like the media you're using, it's either it can't recognize the blank media or don't like it. Don't tell me that this is another cheap Memorex (CMC MAG) media. You'll need to get yourself some high quality media such as the famous Taiyo Yuden (genuine YUDEN can be found on the FUJI & SONY 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan"), Verbatim (MCC003) and Maxell (Made In Japan - manufactured by Hitachi) for your future dvd backups. They're all top notch and flawless media in the market now-a-days. This is too fast. What are you doing??? 4X is the recommendation speeds for burning. You need to dump that "InCD" program, it is not recommend to have both InCD and Nero on one system. Obviously, they don't get along too well. It will conflict with Nero and most likely produce "coasters" for you. Go here http://ww2.nero.com/enu/Clean_Tools.html and you'll need to download both Nero's "General Clean Tool" and "InCD General Clean Tool" to run and completely wipe out their products from your system. Now download the latest 6.6.0.16 from Nero, reinstall Nero (only package #1 & #2) on your computer, reboot and try to do another backup to see if you have a successful burn this time.
@alkohol, requested this one be closed as you and some other guys are dealing with it here already - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232693
