Hi. I am hoping someone can help me... please! When trying to burn CD's with Nero 6 the burning process is aborted in less than a minute, the program telling me that the burn process has failed. Reading other threads i updated the drive to the BYS3 version, removed InCD, and tried uninstalling the driver from device manager and let it be auto reinstalled, but still my problem persists (although this time it went for a record 4 minutes!). it Has cost me about 10 DL DVD's now so i am hoping for a solution before i can afford no more!! many thanks.
Below is a copy of the error log....

    - EDIT OUT your serial number

    - i used this version for absolutely ages without problem, however you do have problems so you should update to latest (6.6.0.16) as part of troubleshooting your problems

    - hmmm, thought you'd updated to BYS3... it's here - http://dhc014.rpc1.org/Files/DVDR/DW-D22A_BYS3b.zip

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix it via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - i always have 600MB free when i burn, i'm only mentioning your memory as you should still keep more memory free

    - just checking, did you intend to not finalise the discs

    - hopefully all the recommendations will get you sorted

    - uninstall Roxio, doesn't play well with Nero. You may have to google search for Roxio Zapper to fully eradicate Roxio

@creaky, I dont want to take over the thread but I cant flash my drive and I cant find an answers. This is my first time flashing.

I Ran ltnFW, I stick in the bin, check update, It goes right to 100% and says it's in progress then the start button goes unshaded like its done flashing but it stays at 100% it dont say done.
How long should this process take?
    what could fix this problem????
    Am I doing something wrong?
I tryed useing MTKflash but I get errors in my floppy drive when I try to make a boot disc(this looks hard to use anyways)

I been working on this since you pointed me to the firmware!
Do you know what this new firmware all upgrades?
    Thank you so much

    @blcdoc -

Hi again, glad you sort of got working before.

However, i've not done any Dual Layer burning, nor do i intend to at DL prices!, though i'll do what i can.

Your thread's title suggests you're sure you have a Sony DW-D22A and whilst i don't doubt you, this same drive caused me some grief today - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/241639

Basically if it's a Sony then ignore that part of my reply..it's always worth checking the obvious. I can't see anything in the logfile that jumps ot to me. I do see the booktyping has been done successfully which should obviously help the disc work in more players. So maybe it is the Layer Break problem after all...

From what i keep reading from some of my buddies round here (two that spring to mind are arniebear and kivory666, not meaning to miss anyone out- i don't pay too much attention to the DL stuff yet), Nero's not currently much good at dealing with the Layer Break. Also i don't yet know how to tell much about Dual Layer from logfiles. The recommendations i know of are to try DVD Decrypter to burn Dual Layer as it can handle Layer Breaks properly. What may be worth trying also is 'imgburn' from the guy who developed DVD Decrypter (Lightning UK).

re imgburn (haven't got around to trying it myself so am slowly reading up on it) -

any DL burning threads i can find, sorry, will just give you some links as am gonna get off the PC for a change, wanna watch a movie as i get up far too early for work :(
