I have nero recode and anydvd (trial)

I get this error - Failed to read from the file €²Š. every once in awhile on a pc that has this version of Recode.
When I get it I just switch drives - have Nero read/rip from another one.
If you don't have another drive to read from then use DVDFab HD Decrypter. Free. Rip w/ that then open those files in Recode.

Oh and edited out your serial # in the log :)

so is dvd fab better than anydvd? I am assuming that the problem is with nero and not the anydvd- am I incorrect?

when you say switch drives what do you mean? I have F: and G: (cd drives) I will try putting it in the other one, but I don't think that will help

Yes I think just based on my experience is something w/ Recode, the DVD, the drive and maybe AnyDVD. Switching to another drive even running AnyDVD solves it for me. Again it doesn't happen that often.

AnyDVD and DVDFab are pretty much about even. Both stay updated to handle the new copy protections.
I prefer AnyDVD just cause it runs in the background and removes the copy protection 'on the fly'. One less step.

If you have another drive that can read dvd - like a dvd-rom drive or another dvd burner then try that one.

Which profile in Nero Digital are you using? Like portable? If not using that one try it. Nero 7 and Nero 8 both have profiles for the iPod which I use - haven't tried 6 for the iPod.

Here's a link to some other guides for other software that will convert for the iPod - most free - link

Thanks- I will look into it. I think I have nero 6- and tried to do nero 7 but I had major problems and I had to uninstall it. I am weary about updating it!

    Not a problem

Yeah from the Recode version - you're using Nero 6.
You can always try installing Nero 7 again the latest - just do a clean install - uninstall using the clean tool, reboot then installing the latest.
But can't blame you being leary since you had problems. Check out the guides and give the free stuff a go.
