I have been using a different set of CD-R's (TDK) and gone back to the CD's that I have burned from in the past and its still not burning. Seems funny that I am able to clear an imation CD-RW and re-burn new files onto it. I try burning in Windows media player and it comes up I should slow the speed down or change brand of CD's, but I shouldnt need to as ive burned from this exact brand before?!
You're burning at a very high rate. Switch back to the TDK CD-Rs and burn ideally at 8x. See if that resolves your problem.

As you are burning a CD, then 16x is TOO SLOW...up the speed to at least 32X. Where did you get those discs from, I've never heard of them

You might want to change to a better version of Nero 6: Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a Here's how: Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot! update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only: http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php reboot and you're good to go!
Actually, TDK CD-R is not a bad media to use for audio CDs. I've always burned them at 8X and never had any bad blemishes on the CD-R. And of course, this was during the dinosaur ages. Try all the suggestions presented and see what happens.
Really? :| I have never been able to burn at 32X. I think 18x is the fastest I have ever managed. Why so fast? :S
Most good media such as Verbatim CDs allow you to burn at between 1X and 52X, which in my opinion is ridiculasly fast...I always select 32X...and 1X in my opinion is just plain stupid. Good DVDs, once again Verbatim (the ones I use) 8X but I ALWAYS burn at 4X although they can quite easily handle the 8X
