I've always used the same DVD-R disk with Nero and suddenly it burns up to about 97% and it will hang for an hour before giving me an error or it will finish and fail. I checked out this board and uninstalled my old version of Nero to the new version but I'm still having problems. Here is my log, hopefully one of you can tell me what I can do to fix this problem. - wow that's bad, you have sufficient total memory but something's eaten the lot, you need to close much more down prior to burns to ensure sufficient free memory - a-ha, subpar media. you nedd to use decent media.. - splat!, problem with the media as previous comment. - uninstall Nero, uninstall Nero completely via Nero Clean Tools - http://www.nero.com/en/Clean_Tools.html and reinstall Nero, WITHOUT installing Nero's InCD (packet writing software), doesn't always play well with standard Nero Burning Rom.. - your atapi drivers aren't loaded correctly, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm
I took your advice, removed all of Nero with about 4 of those cleaning tools (including in CD), installed the updated drivers and reinstalled. During reinstallation I don't remember seeing anything where I can pick INCD but when I looked on my program files, it wasn't available the 2nd time around so I'm assuming it didn't install it. So I tried another disk, even though it's cheap media, it's all I have until something new arrives. Even then, I don't want to damage my new expensive media because Nero doesn't feel like burning anything. So I tried another disk, got another error, got about my 50th coaster and here's the error report. I really hope I can get this fixed, I have to use my DVD everyday. I've just copy/pasted some of my previous comments wow that's bad, you have sufficient total memory but something's eaten the lot, you need to close much more down prior to burns to ensure sufficient free memory i don't use this mode, i always choose compilation type of 'dvd-video' in Nero a-ha, subpar media. you need to use decent media.. splat!, problem with the media as previous comment. those drivers still aren't right. try this method - i forgot to say on previous reply, you don't need to waste discs. just do 'simulation burns' in Nero, which go thru the motions of a burn, and ask for a blank disc, but don't actually write to the discs..
Wow, I wish I knew about simulation before! The Regedit fixed it, that's how I always fixed it with recording cd's before and I forgot how to access it. You rock! Thank you so much for your help and taking the time out to do it. I am forever grateful. ;c)
no worries, you're welcome. i've always known about simulation but never need to use it. trouble is i rarely used to remember to recommend it, so now i always make a point of it...
