I possibly had a little too much time on my hands this morning, but after I gleefully uninstalled [bold]Nero Burning ROM[/bold] and flushed out the 50 million files it had deposited on my PC, I started to ponder the true meaning of NERO. All of the ones that made any sense to me just happened to fall into the zero column. Maybe someone will want to help Nero back into the hero column... Or maybe not. i switched to vso copytodvd it's actually pretty nice well so far. nero's alrite but it's just not for me and personally i think nero is a resources hog.
For DVD and video editing, I tried NeroVision Express with much disappointment. Found Pinnacle Studio Plus as the answer, Soooo much easier for me. Seems to provide much more control over the work. As for Nero in general: Nero Express (Burning Rom), InCD, etc., are nice and easy.
Nero and i have gotten along pretty well, except for an error with Nerovision Express every time i add transitions/text to my videos. but Pinnacle works for that. so, overall, i guess, Nero is a hero...or Achilles.
as far as video editing goes, nothing beats premiere pro, if you can afford the $500+ price tag. That or Avid Xpress, which is over a grand with the hardware
all i use any burning prog for, is basic data cd's, audio cd's, and straight dvd video burning, ie where DVD Shrink et al have done all the hard work, so Nero Burning Rom is overkill for my needs, but as i have it, that's what i use every day.. i've no need for Nero 7 though, and won't in the future either..
I guess each has his/her own personal favorite. I started out with Adaptec Easy CD creator many years ago and then CloneCd, then NTI CD/DVD maker Pro before settling down with Nero Burning ROM. It has worked flawlessly for me so that would make it my HERO(Hotly Emphasized Recording Option).
