I have Nero cover designer 2.3.4.3, and sometimes I am able to print my LS labels, but on occasion I am unable to do so. After I make my document, I go to print, but the option for LS is not there.

I have to open it up again or restart my machine, and voilá, it works... but why the hassle?

Has anyone else experienced this? Please let me know what I need to do to get this working whenever I need it!

    Many thanks. [IMG]

Don't know for sure, but it sounds like some type of communication problem. I saw another post where someone suggested changing the drive connections and making the lightscribe drive master on it's IDE channel.

How is your drive connected to your system? Are the master/slave jumpers set correctly?

Maybe a search for your model drive would show other folks with your problem.

Yeah, I saw that one, too; however, I do not believe that one will fix it for me. I guess I can go ahead and try it just to see what comes of it though.

I am thinking it might have something to due with RAM issues. Like when I have PS, DW and a couple of other programs open, it typically does not work. When I open it with only FF and another program or two, it always does. The other night—after I posted my mssg here—I restarted my computer, and it worked.

I would think restarting the computer resets all the drivers and refreshes information. Does your Burner work normally in other uses beside Lightscribe and show up in device manager normally? Maybe one of the other programs is interferring with Nero, or effecting how the system sees the drive.

Do you show any problems in any of you logs for the computer, warnings or errors?

It is connected via USB; I think it is a Sony or a Samsung external DVD drive. (No jumpers needed here.)
I have not seen any errors or anything else out of the ordinary. What would I need to look at to determine if there is anything hampering the LS from functioning?

The fact it is USB might explain some of the problems. When it appears to lose communication, do you still have the safe disconnect icon in the system tray?

Have you tried opening Device Manager and scanning for devices? You may have to click on "Computer" for the icon to show up or make that option available.

Have you tried unplugging and reinserting the USB plug? Do you have the latest USB drivers/Chipset drivers for your system?

This doesn't really sound like a Nero problem, but I hope this helps.

Thanks for your persistent help! I will take a look at it when I get home to see if that makes it work any better. [IMG]
