I've downloaded the XP2 patch, removed all the "conflicting" drivers, and yet, I still can't seem to play wav files. I've figured out how to split off the soundtrack and the video so that I can re-sync them but for some reason, the wav file I created won't play. The NV3 editor plays the MP3 files just fine. I don't know if it's just these particular files or not. Any ideas? Is there a patch I'm missing? It won't play in the audio tools, either, although it looks like maybe the meters are detecting something....
Haven't figured out Gspot yet, but I downloaded it. I'm almost suspecting that I'm missing some codec. But the Wav file won't play in Windows Media Player, either.

How can I import an user database? 1. During the audio burn process Nero hangs. Please try one of the following solutions: Please update to our latest Nero release from our website. Update to Nero 5.5: Nero Burning ROM Update to Nero 6: Updates Nero 6 Ultra Edition Important notes Ugrades to the latest versions of Nero 5.5 are free of charge. The Nero 5 serial number does not work for Nero 6. To upgrade to Nero 6 from a previous version, please purchase a Nero 6 serial number in our Onlineshop. Please upgrade the firmware for your recorder from the recorder manufacturer's website. Legal disclaimer: "Nero Inc. is not liable for firmware updates as these updates are not offered by Nero Inc. All updates are performed at one’s own risk. Nero Inc. will not be liable for the legality of the firmware." Close all other applications which are running in the background. If you have CD TEXT enabled, this could be the cause of your problem, especially if your source audio files are coming from a CD in a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. The drive may have trouble reading the CD TEXT information located on it. Try with CD TEXT disabled to rule this out as a cause. Disable the option "read all subchannel data". You will find it in Nero Burning ROM under "read options". It may also help to use 'Disc-At-Once 96' as write method. You'll find it in the drop down list 'Write Method' on the 'Burn' tab. In Nero Express the option is in the window 'Final Burn Settings' under 'More'. Important note This option is only available if your recorder supports it. Try with different audio source files, as corrupted or damaged audio files will cause this. Check the file name structure of your audio files. They can not exceed 64 characters in length and can not use the special characters below: Character set Joliet: All characters are allowed apart from the following: ':', ';', '?', '\', '/', '*', '<', '>', '"' Your source file could be corrupted. If your source drive is an Audio CD in a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, it could have trouble reading it. Try cleaning the source CD, or first extract the audio from the CD to your HD, and then burn it to CD. If you are copying an Audio CD, place the CD you wish to copy in your recorder, use the Nero CD copy option and see if this works better. If it does, your source CD-ROM or DVD-ROM may need cleaning, service or even a firmware upgrade. If you have an USB recorder, check your cables, try different USB cables and try to burn without any other USB devices connected to the system. If you have IDE recorders, make sure to use the latest drivers for your IDE controller card. (If you do not have trouble with Data CDs, this is not likely to be your cause.) Always try more than one brand of CD-R media. System ASPI driver conflicts can cause problems as well. System ASPI 4.60 is known to cause such hang ups during writes of audio files such as MP3 under XP and other operating systems, and yet have no affect when creating Data CDs. In some cases it's recorder specific. Try downgrading your System ASPI drivers. If you still have problems, please send us a copy of your Nero log file of the failed write attempt, so we can see what is occurring. Use the support form or contact our technical support. At the end of any write attempt with Nero/Nero Express or NeroVision Express, our software will ask you if you wish to save, print, or discard the log file from the write attempt. Please be sure to save this file to your Desktop. If you do not choose where to save the Log.txt file to, our software will save it to the directory of the program. For instance, for Nero it will save it to C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero directory by default. If you forgot to save the log file, there is a NeroHistoryLog in the C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero (or Nero Express) directory. It is automatically created by our software and will also help to solve your problem. top 2. I want for all songs the same volume. How can I do that? To bring all songs you burn to CD down to the same volume, use the ´Normalize´ feature. From within Nero Express: Go to 'Music --> Audio CD' Add the files you want to burn on the Audio CD. Select all the audio files in ‘My Audio CD’ and click on ‘Properties’, which you find on the right side of the window. Choose ‘Filters’ and select the ‘Normalize’ checkbox. From within Nero Burning ROM: Launch Nero, select 'Audio CD' from within the ‘New Compilation’ window and click on ‘New’. Drag over your audio files from the file browser on the right to the ‘Audio 1’ window on the left. Select all the audio files from within the ‘Audio1’ window and right-click on them. Go to ‘Properties --> 'Filters' and select the 'Normalize' option from here. Use the following link and download the PDF file that explains you step by step how to “create an audio CD using filters”: Create an audio cd You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher to open this PDF file. If you don´t have it, download it for free from Adobe´s website at: www.adobe.com top 3. I am attempting to burn an Audio CD but CD TEXT is not present on the burned CD. Why is that? CD TEXT can only be written in ‘Disc-At-Once' mode or 'DAO/96' mode. It can not be written using the Nero 5 wizard, but will work with Nero Express. Make sure your recorder does support CD TEXT by going to Nero's ´Recorder --> Choose Recorder' or let the Nero InfoTool confirm the drive supports this feature. Make sure you have the latest firmware for your recorder model, which can be obtained from your recorder manufacturer' s website. Some hardware/software players do not support CD TEXT, such as Windows Media Player. Please choose a player that definitely supports CD TEXT, such as our Nero Media Player. Use the following link and download the PDF file that explains you step by step how to "create an Audio CD with CD TEXT": Create an audio cd You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher to open this PDF file. If you don´t have it, download it for free from Adobe´s website at: www.adobe.com top 4. Why does the CD I just burned have poor sound quality? To help you with this problem, please clarify the following questions: Please make first sure to update to our latest Nero release from our website: Update to Nero 5.5: Nero Burning ROM Update to Nero 6: Updates Nero 6 Ultra Edition Important notes Upgrades to the latest versions of Nero 5.5 are free of charge. The Nero 5 serial number does not work for Nero 6. To upgrade to Nero 6 from a previous version, please purchase a Nero 6 serial number in our Onlineshop. Do you have this issue with other audio files? If not, you may have poor source files. Are you able to copy an Audio CD without problems using your recorder as both source and destination, but when using your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM as source, quality is poor? If yes, your source CD-ROM drive may need cleaning or service. Are you able to use Nero's 'Recorder --> Save Track' feature to extract files from an Audio CD, then burn these back to an Audio CD and obtain good quality? (For Nero Express use 'More --> Save Tracks'.) If the answer is yes, the source files were corrupted from download or are generally corrupted. If you have problems no matter how you attempt to create the Audio CD, you either need to upgrade the firmware on your recorder or send it in for service. top 5. Why are all audio files associated with Nero Media Player? If you install any media player program (for instance Nero Media Player, Windows Media Player, Real Media Player, etc...), upon installation all audio files are automatically associated with the media player program last installed. Even if you uninstall this program or wish to use another media player, the system tries to associate the audio files with the one last installed. Best way to resolve this problem is to uninstall all media player programs. Then reinstall or upgrade the media player program you wish to work with. Your audio files will be reassociated with it automatically. top 6. Where do I find audio filters such as DeClick, Fade, Normalize, etc.? We have many filters to choose from. Such as Normalize, DeClick, Hiss Reduction, Fad-in & Fade-out, Stereo Widening, Karaoke, Echo and Equalizer. From within Nero Burning ROM: Launch Nero. Close the wizard. If you don´t have it, download it for free from Adobe´s website at: www.adobe.com top 8. Nero won't accept my WAV files. "If your WAV files have been saved using Sonic Foundry's Acid or SoundForge programs and other similar programs, the files may be no standard WAV files. Sometimes such programs save WAV files with markers inside the file. Although this never affects the replay of a file (even in Nero), Nero refuses to burn any CD with a WAV file that has these markers encoded in them. It's best to set these programs in a way they do not generate this header information when they create WAV files. This will help to ensure compatibility with other programs such as Nero. If an audio file already contains this header information, you can try and resolve it by using a third party software, possibly even the software that created the audio file. Just delete a very small portion of the beginning of the audio file. A very small portion deleted is all that is needed to remove this header information and allow Nero to work with the file." I am using Videoh!, with the Sonic MDVD software capture software. Now, it might be that that is why it won't play, because now I've discovered that it WILL play other wavs like one I downloaded off the net. So I'm thnking this is the problem. Any idea of a free sound editor I could try taking off the header with? My sound editor doesn't support the Wav format. (Still don't understand why WMP10 won't play the file though. But that's one more piece of the puzzle I thihk I'm getting closer to an answer for)
