I am not sure if this is where I should be posting to get the instructions on how to use my Nero Express proggy (OEM 6.3.1.23) that came with my BenQ Burner (external) 162I (16X) to set it up so that I can get the MPEG files that are in my Video files Folder to be able to burned by Nero instead of using the Ulead Movie Factory 3. I spoke briefly to the sales rep in the store where i bought the Hauppauge and he said that I would have to go to Create a Video and set it to "Import" the files. Since I am a Noob, I thought that I should post here to see what the steps are to do this. I had a post in another of After Dawn's forum and appreciated very much the advice on the various brands of Video Capture units, thus assisting me in make the decision to purchase this particular unit the USB 2. I have used Ulead Movie Factory 3 to Create a Video and was happy with the results, however I would like to try Nero and see if there is any difference. I went into Nero Express, to DVD Express and it read "You can use the DVD-Video program to create DVD-Video playable on consumer DVD player. To do so add your existing video content files to Video_TS folder, click Next and Add. So I went to my C Drive and clicked on my Video Files and under the caption "My Videos" in Nero there was 2 choices" 1. DVD-Video file types (bup,vob, ifo) and of course my files are MPEG. The second choice was 2. All files Then the next step for me was to click on "Add", however I did not see anything about "Import" as the sales rep had mentioned and since I am a Noob in doing this I thought that I should do a post since I don't even know if I am in the correct section to used Nero to Burn the MPEG's. I want to be able also to put the title of the Video in the beginning and wondered if that is possible? I would appreciate comments regarding my questions on Nero and how to get to the point of doing this process. If there is someone who knows how to do this I would appreciate the comments in simple point form, or even a direction as to where I can find out this information. I know there are a lot of experienced members out there and I am most appreciative of the help that I receive. My notebook is a Toshiba, 2410 satellite, 1.9 ghz, intel pentium 4, 512 RAM and Mobile Processor. I hope that someone can point me in the right direction, as the sales rep said that he did use Nero to do this process instead of Ulead Movie Factory 3 many months ago; however he was unable to advise me on how to proceed to do this. Thanking you in advance, Cheers!!!!
The way you were heading was not going to work. The only choice you actually had were the DVD-Video files. (Those .bup, .ifo and .vob files listed.) Selecting "All Files" would still not let you "Add" or import the MPEG. Nero Express will not be able to do anything with your MPEG. Nero Express is just a simplified "front end" gui for Nero Burning ROM which works only on data, music and DVD-Video files. No conversions, it just copies exsisting data. Ypu could probably copy your mpeg as a data DVD but it would not play unless your DVD player can play MPEGs. The correct Nero program for converting and then burning your MPEG is NeroVision Express 3. That may have come with your Nero OEM. Some have it, some don't. It can convert the MPEG into DVD-Video compliant files and then burn them. BTW your program is somewhat out of date. The current version is at least 6.6.0.16. Thats the version I have at any rate. Here are some Nero links: Nero home page: http://nero.com/us/index.html Nero Express tutorials: http://nero.com/us/Tutorials_Express_6_Copy_an_entire_disc.html Nerovision Express tutorials: http://nero.com/us/631956523192996.html Consider upgrading: http://nero.com/us/FAQs_General_Update-Upgrade.html I get a lot of use out of several of the Nero programs that come with the full package. It has been reliable and easy to use. Edit: Your sales guy may not be the best source of info on this. Also the Ulead program you have should work fine. Make sure you always use the latest version. Check the Ulead website for updates. Cheers, Frank
Hi, no replies!!!! I really want to know if Nero can be used with Hauppauge PVR USB 2 as an alternate to the proggy that came with ir the Ulead Movie Maker 3. I would really appreciate comments and also that I could understand by steps what I had to do in order that I accomplish what Ulead proggy does as the sales rep said when I bought the Happauge that the proggy would be not as good as Nero and he mentioned that I would have to "import" which as a Noob is a new term to me.. I have gone through all the steps if nero OEM 6.3.1.23 in order to accomplish this process that would comparable to Ulead Movie Maker 3, nowever was unsuccessful. I understand that the Nero is a better proggy and faster than Ulead and thus I would appreiate instructions on how to get off and running on this. I know that there has to ge an experienced memeber out here that would be kind enough to send his thoughts and his experience. Plelase let me know of your comments, thanking you in advance. I use a BenQ 162I external burner (16X) dual layer and though I have burning in R+ 4.75 abd no coasters after 60 backps and of course using the phne support Media and up to date firmware. At first I bought the stores Memorex R+ media which was a disaster and then spoke to the support via phone in Irvine California and they were a wealth of knowledge and that was divine!!! Now great results and no coasters, Now I simply want toknow how to do analog to digital for my VHS tapes. My first ones with the Hauppauge software was good, however I understand that Nero Has a better proggy. Please since I am a Noob and need a step by step setting up and instructons on how to do it I would be eternally grateful. Please advise as to how to do this. Respectful regards,
Sorry for the delay in this post. I called BenQ Support regarding the Nero OEM 6.3.1.23 as i found that the only proggys that were on this disc that came with my (16X) dual layer 162I External Burner included" Nero Start Smart 2 Nero Express 6 Nero Back It Up Nero Sound Trax Nero Image Drive Nero Burning ROM 6 Nero Cover Designer Nero Wave Editor Nero Tool Kit and NO Nero Vision Express. BenQ Support phone line told me to go to www.nero.com and download package one and package 2 over my existing OEM. Since I have not done this before and did not know if this was the correct way to do it I thought that I should do a post for comments. I did check and Nero Vision Express is included in this update and for whatever reason was not in my OEM that was with my unit. The only reason that I wanted to try this proggy out was that I had read in another forum that it was a little faster in the process than Ulead Movie Factory 3. The results were great from Ulead and so I have no issue there, it took 2 hrs for a 45 minute VHS backup to DVD and so I was wondering about a 180 minute vhs that I want to back up. Has anyone used Nero Vision Express and was there any significant time difference, maybe I am barking up the wrong tree and should simply be satisfied with the Ulead Movie Factory 3. As I did note in another forum that a couple of members mentioned that Nero Vision Express would not work with their PVR 150 nor PVR 250 models. Thus I would appreciate advice. If the proggy does not work can I and should I update my OEM from this site and is it actually free? As you can see I am a real Noob! Cheers and I look forward to comments!!!!
i don't use Nerovision (i just have the need for it, that's all), however the updates are indeed free. If you're gonna try out a proggy you really need to make sure it's up to date before you dismiss it as unsuitable.. you may find you prefer using something else, it's just the version you mentioned is well old..
Thx Creaky for the prompt reply!!! i just wondered if the BenQ support phone techie was correct when he said that i can download the package 1 and package 2 over top of my current Nero OEM 6.3.1.23 and not have to uninstall it. i hope that he is correct, however I would rather ask the experts here. (I should say that I don't install INCd as I don't use it) I look forward to a response!! Cheers
yup, go for it... it's up to you if you want to uninstall first..it's only really necessary when there's problems or you want to uninstall bits of Nero, ie for instance if you wanted to uninstall Nero's InCD - that would require a Nerouninstall, then running Nero's Clean Tools to remove all traces of Nero, then you'd reinstall Nero without installing InCD...
You may have to buy an upgrade serial number. This is from the Nero FAQs: This may apply to you. Nero normally detects the current serial number during update installations so you should try it. Nero 7 is coming out in a few weeks which should be quite a change. If you need to buy your Nero to upgrade to the full version, now would be a good time. Here's the Nero 7 FAQ :
Thankyou for the reply. I will still be using my BenQ 162I external burner that i bought a couple of months ago. The reason i was considering trying the Nero Vision Express was because I bought the Hauppauge Win TV PVR USB 2.0 which comes with the program Movie Factory 3 SE to convert my analog vhs tapes to dvd and I had seen a post in a forum where someone else had the same Hauppauge unit and had tried the Nero Vision Express and found it to be faster. It was more of a curiosity to me and i thought that i had it in my OEM, however of course i find now that i don't. When i called BenQ Phone Support, they seemed to believe that I could download the version including the Nero Vision Express over top of my OEM Version and that it would have to be Package 1 and Package 2 of the full Version 6 on the Nero site. Thankyou
You should try it! I'd do the Nero Download from Afterdawn. The regular Nero website downloads are really slow. Fast: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/nero.cfm Slow: http://nero.com/us/nero-up.php
Thx, I do really appreciate comments such as this one. I do want to give the program a try and the advice about the D/L taking longer from Nero is a valid one for me as I am on dial up. I guess I should ask if it would/should be possible to do this overtop of my existing OEM version as suggested by BenQ. Again, thankyou for the replies.
Hi Appa, Maybe if you know someone with a faster connection you could have them download the Nero .exe and then put it on a CD for you. I've never tried this with Nero but I don't know why it wouldn't work. Hi Creaky, I'm looking forward to Nero 7. I have not seen any inside info on it, have you? I'm expecting great things! Edit: A Quick Google found a bit of info at Softpedia.com: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Nero-7-to-Be-Released-in-the-Second-Week-of-October-7705.shtml
@fasfrank - only been reading bits n' pieces re Nero 7. all i use is Burning Rom, but i'll bet there's umpteen new bloat (i mean usefaul features!) in there.. just threw a few links in from google re Nero 7.. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=148442 http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/12347 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/229628
Thanks Creaky, I wonder if the new program will work with Windows Vista or Longhorn or whatever it will be called. I can see in my crystal ball a lot of coasters.....SP2 was bad enough. We will get it sorted out though! Cheers, Frank
@fasfrank - lol. ps here's the first Nero log i've seen where someone's using Nero 7.0.0.0 - i didn't think it was out yet - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/229822
Interesting...The first evidence of Nero 7's debut is a log from a failed burn.... I didn't look the log over closely, just a quick scan. It looked similar to Nero 6 log. I suppose that the same issues that caused failed burns with N6 will show up with N7, bad media, etc. Congratulations for being the first (as far as I know) to analyse and solve a Nero 7 problem! The "official" release should be out in October....
