Forgive me if this isn't the proper forum to post this. I've been happily burning CDs and DVDs until the last week, when all I get is coasters. I have Nero 8, with the latest update, as well as DVDFab Decrypter, DVDshrink, and ImgBurn. I thought it might be a conflict between my programs, but I'm wondering if it might be my burner. I have an external Kanguru Quicksilver burner, about 5 months old. I've been finding that frequently the drive is not recognized; I've switched USB ports with the same result. I have to play around with plugging and unplugging the power and USB cable. I reinstalled the original drivers, and checked for updates (none). When I run Nero, it stalls about 1 minute into the burn; I cannot exit without powering the computer off with the button. I've gotten a DMA error once or twice, but checked my IDE channel properties and everything is Ultra DMA mode. It plays DVD-roms fine. I've posted my Nero log below, if it's any use. It'll show where I powered off; the program was hanging for quite a while. I'm loathe to uninstall and reinstall my programs if it's a burner issue. I use TDK for my cds, with no prior problems with their quality, and Verbatim for my dvds. Again, I'm sorry if this was the wrong place to post. Thanks, Liz
Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 2400. I did as you suggested, and unplugged the computer. My burner is at least recognized again, but still having trouble with Nero. I reposted a new thread with an updated log. Thanks very much for your advice.
