Ive been reading these posts for hours and still havent found anyone with the same problem. I am using DVD decrypter, DVD shrink (newest), and Nero Express to prepare this movie. Everything will work fine until Nero starts to simulate, or with the box unchecked starts to try and burn. It stays on 1% and then offers to save the log file (which I have if it is of any help.) Anyone had the same problem with this movie? If so, let me know. By the way it works fine stripped and using DVD xpress
Hi pktrsns, Welcome to our little club - You had yourself a great little thing there with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink BUT when you got to Nero that's where you went wrong Let's try it this way - BURNING WITH NERO CLASSIC HINT: First, create a folder for your work on your desktop - load your IFO, BUP and VOB files there - make sure they are in a folder named VIDEO_TS written like that (all in Caps) - some programs like DVD Shrink will make the properly named folder for you, others you must make the folder yourself - Nero needs that folder with all it’s contents in order to work properly – Burning a file made by DVD Shrink. If you had used DVD Shrink to create a file on your HD you are truly in great shape. When you wish to burn, use the "File Browser" in Nero Classic (don’t use Wizard), trace your path back to “All DVD Work\ Pirates of the Caribbean”, you don’t have to remember where your work is or if you need to do anymore work on it, it is completely finished, ready to go - (Switching on the TV so that pktrsns can watch it -) OK then, is everyone comfy ? Good - its now time for - - “Uncle” ScubaPete’s Step by Step, Let’s burn with Nero 6 Guide - First - Do not use Nero Wizard - Please follow EXACTLY - When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the “New Compilation” window. Directly under the title “New Compilation” is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose “DVD”. Directly under that click on the “DVD Video Icon.” Then click “New” in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen. You now are in the “DVD Video” window. In the left screen, click “VIDEO_TS”. In the “File Browser” screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder, the one you made earlier holding all of your files and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the “Shift” key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left and release the mouse button. Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click “OK” and now, clear the room, stand up tall and shout out, “Burn Baby, BURN” ! One more time, let me hear you say it, “Who’s your Daddy Now ???” Guess what my Friend ? You are done !!! (Wheeew, now I really need a cigarette) NOW, STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER ! ! Keep all fingers and toes away from Ms. Computer. Never mess with the lady when she’s working – it would be hazardous to your health, you understand - Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done, she will let you know ;-)) Enjoy your backup, Pete BTW, Read those new DVD Shrink guides and check your DVD Shrink settings. If you set them correctly, you'll never open Nero, it will just burn "automatically." You can also set it up to burn with DVD Decrypter AND CopyToDVD also - all "automatically" )
Thanks for the info, but I guess what I should have said was that I have used all the same settings, all the same steps and the same programs many times before. Each time they have worked fine and finished doing what they were supposed to do, but now Nero Express seems to be acting up. It also plays from the hard drive through Power DVD. I DO know that the proper aspi is installed and I have even done a full reinstall using the Nero Clean tools. I am trying another known to be good movie right now to see if it is the software, movie or Nero. (I know its not me...Heh heh heh...
ScubaPete, As a newcomer and a complete idiot when it comes to all this computer stuff, I can only hope to find an explanation like the one you just gave to prktrns. Precise, knowledgeable and most important directions you can follow and use. For new comers like me there is just to much to know. I hope that all that use this site will be as helpful and giving.
Hey Scuba Pete, the other movie decrypted, shrank and encoded, and burned just fine with the same settings. I guess its in the movie or something I overlooked. Once again thanks for the info on your post. I just hope that I (or someone)can come up with a solution so I can get a FULL backup made of that particular movie. As for Flip, I will try to catch you ALL in a good mood if I can! Thanks guys.
Ahhh, your chances are good. Usually in a good mood Also, I've done Tears of the Sun using Shrink and Decrypter. Have you tried that? Also do you get any errors?
"Also, I've done Tears of the Sun using Shrink and Decrypter. Have you tried that? Also do you get any errors?" Not just using the two proggies. I opted (bad choice but most convienient) to install and use DVDxcopy express just to get a copy on disk. I have the files on the HD from DVD decrypter and shrink, but ran out of media, so I will have to wait till I get out to get some more to see. I did however burn another movie to DVD-RW that way and it burned fine. There inlies the confusion. Everything the same way, and T.O.T.S. decodes, shrinks, encodes but will not burn with Nero. I guess after six coasters, and eight hours more of Nero's freezing on me, I got frustrated and used DVDxcopy express. (Shame, shame on me!) Will find out if I can do it for sure tomorrow though.Ill be camped out in front of Office Depot at 8 am.
