I have been using Nero Recode 7 for a long time with no problems. I like to take DVD's and convert either parts of them or the whole DVD to a MP4 so I can use it in Quicktime. The other day when I opened Recode and set it up and then hit the start button to begin the process, it opens up my web browser and brings me to a nero support page that is no longer any good. It says something like "you have encountered a problem" and then it gave the good links to Nero support but it does not say what the problem was. I shut the web page down and continued with the encoding process and all seemed fine as usuall until I tried to play the mpeg 4. It was all chopped, blurry and just plain no good. On a whim I rencoded that file with another video encoder and the video is fine now but the sound is off.

What I noticed is that I had my Nero Patent Activation blocked from the internet. The other day I was blocking programs and somehow I blocked the patent activation. I have nero for a few years so why are they activating now anyway? It's a paid official version I bought. Is it possible that when it tried to activate but could not, it sent me to that support page and then even though Nero works, it was able to disable the quality? Or did something else happen here? I did install a codec pack about 2 weeks ago. Thanks for any help.

I wanted to add something to my above post. Other media players on my system play the mp4 file that I reencoded from Nero fine. It's only quick time that plays it distorted. But...I can take that same file and re encode it in cucsoft video encoder to mp4 again and it will play and look great in quicktime. I don't think it's a quicktime problem though, I think its a Nero problem and it has something to do with me shutting off the patent activation. I even reinstalled new codecs and that did not change a thing. And like I say, everytime I rip a DVD just before it starts the job it opens up a webpage that was an old nero support page and gives links to the new page??? So weird.
