    A few questions:
    1. Nero Encode isn't a part of Nero 6 Suite? I downloaded the suite but I can't find Recode...
    2. Is it true that Recode would allow me to strip the extras but leave the menu intact (i.e. possible to navigate it)?
    3. What's the recommended max speed for burning? I had problems with 8x and even with 4x...
    4. If I use 4x blank DVD will it slow down the burner to the DVD speed or it'll spin it at 8x (my burner's speed)?
So many questions, so little time... :-(
    Thanks for the help.

Nero Recode 2 is part of Nero suite v3117 ,yes you can use it to delete unwanted bits from menu also audio tracks to fit the movie onto the disc,a bar chart shows the capacity and target size,a preview screen can also be used, its best to tick the box for advanced analysis for more accurate results. If you use it with the programme AnyDVD that bypasses the CSS encryption.the bur speed is shown in the progress column on the left hand side of the screen.within Nero there is a very useful Nero Info Tool, shows media, drive details etc,Regarding burning speed what drive do you have? I normally rip@8x burn@4x on a Sony 510A with Sony DSS fast speed enabled onto Ritek DVD-R 4x

Thank you, ipsy, for your reply.

Last night I downloaded Nero 6 (the suite) but now you're telling me there is another suite... :)

OK, I'll find it and use it, in hope that it'll do the job. By the way, should I keep Nero 6 as well, or the suites compliment each other?

I use Sony U18A (8x) and it's good to know that the recommended burning speed is 4x not higher. By the way - how do you impose slower speed? Just by using 4x blank DVD the burner will slow down to 4x?

There are two basic version of Nero6,

OEM which does not include Recode2.

Ultra which includes all the bells and whistles, Recode2 included.

The trial version for Nero 6 Ultra doesn't include Recode until you pay/register and then download the pack that contains it.

Thank you, Nephilim, for the clarification. Now, at last, I know what's going on (or so I think).

How about my other question, regarding slowing down the burning speed (if indeed it's better to burn only at 4x)?

By the way, you have impressive collection of movies. I only wonder why you publish the link here. Is it to allow your brothers (ok, sisters too) to DL them, or just to make them choke? ;-)

    itsmekev,
When you install Nero 6 or update on line dont install the package that includes InCD its a packet writing program that can conflict with many Rip/Burning programmes, update online and only choose parts 1 and 2 .

I believe I need to clarify some issues, as some statements made here are true, but only in certain cases.

First, there is only one Nero 6 Suite. On our website, we have the Nero 6 Suite broken down into four components. The reason is that if we combined it all in one, we would have a very large download. And most of our customers only want to download portions of the Nero 6 Suite. So we have it broken down in the following fashion.

    Under UPDATES:

Package 1: This contains our Nero Burning ROM/Nero Express build. This also includes Nero BackItUp, Nero Cover Designer, Nero WAV editor, Nero SoundTrax, Nero ToolKit, Nero Image Drive.

In a nutshell, Package 1 is all you'll need for basic CD and DVD Creation. Be it for Audio, Data, or basic VCD and SVCD Creation, or copying of data/audio CD's.

Package 2: This contains our NeroVision Express 2, Nero Recode, and Nero Showtime.

In a Nutshell, all your DVD Authoring tools needed for creation and playback.

Package 3: This contains only InCD 4. You PacketWriting software to treat your ReWritable media like a floppy.

Package 4: This contains our NeroMix software. This is like your Windows Media Player 9 program.

Important Note: Under Trial Versoins, Package 3 is NeroMix, and Package 4 is our NeroPhotoShow Express, which is our new Photo ManageMent software. Expect the Updates page to change soon to add the Nero PhotoShow Express for download as well in the coming days.

On another Note, our DEMO software is a complete and fully functional download. That means it DOES come with a full working Nero Recode 2. Our Demo's only work for the month they are released, not 30 days from the time of install. So it's possible that you download the Demo 4 days before the month ends, and you only get 4 days before the Demo expires. However, we do come out with a new Demo each month, so you need only uninstall the old Demo and install the New to obtain the full 30 days trial for the new month.

And yes, this could mean that you never have to purchase our software. But to date, this has not harmed our sales any. Far from it, from our viewpoint it helps our sales. :)

As for OEM bundles not including Nero Recode 2, this True and False, depending on the OEM. The OEM has full control over what they wish to include in their OEM bundle. Some want the Nero Recode 2, and others do not. So if you purchase a bundled Recorder with our software, be sure to check with the OEM first to see what exactly they offer Nero OEM bundle.

    Regards,

    Craig

craig, that is very informative and also clears up a few things I was wrong about in nero's packaging. I have the Ultra 6 package and I think it is the best all around complete audio/video package on the market today.

I constantly promote it's attributes in AD, especially to people new to the dvd backup scene.

It's good to hear about the new Photo management, I'll be looking forward to it.

    cudos to Nero.....

    Hi Bigorange,

All of at Nero really appreciate this. :)

Quite a number of us visit AD on a regular basis, both for the knowledge that is shared here, as well as to pick up on any problems our software may be having that we are not aware of. And also for ideas on how to improve our software for future releases.

This forum and others like it are life savers for both users and developers alike. And we are honored to be a part of it. (not to sound like I'm sucking up or anything, it's the simple truth. :) )

    Regards,

    Craig

Thanx craig, I appreciate that, it is truly a wonderful app( I'm not sucking up either, lol),while I've got ya, heh heh heh. Have you had any negative feedback on recode since the latest update? I find I am having sizing problems in it. No matter where I set it, custom 3.6 to 4.3 or DVD5 I am getting burn failed messages at the end of my projects because file too large to fit on disc. This has only just started to happen since the last update. I was going to reinstall, but thought I would ask since you're here.

    Hi Bigorange,

I've had some reports, but I have not had the chance to confirm it yet. That's my next project. :)

But very soon issues like this will be a thing of the past, as we will be improving our Encoder dramatically in a major release coming up soon. It will not be the next posted upgrade, but a little furhter down the line. You'll know when you see a version of Nero 6 that reports as a version higher than 6.3xxxx. Could be 6.4 or higher. That's all I can really say for now.

And of course when this comes out, our MPEG 4 Encoder will support the new H.264/AVC encoding and decoding.

    And Xenonian,

Yes it will have a number of features found in PhotoStory. You can download a 15 day trial version from our website using the below link if you like.

    Regards,

    Craig
