I uninstalled Nero, then went to reinstall it. When trying to reintall, it tells me an older version of Nero was detected, and the remove option on the setup of Nero disc will not do anything. I uninstalled the program, then add/removed it from my system, tried installing again and it still didnt work. I then searched my system with the windows search, deleted anything that Nero could have been using, and the disc will still not install the program saying there is an older version on my system. Can anyone tell me what the problem is here? Windows XP home -Dan
start - run - regedit! HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software delete anything from ahead! HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software delete anything from ahead! Hope it works for ya!
Dela, UK_Mewz what does deleting all software data from the Registry editor do? would it allow one to reinstall Nero to run it past the June 30th expiration date? if not, is there anyway to do that?
lol, well i wouldnt know about that now mate, i'd doubt it, they probably hide a file somewher eon your computer with that info! Deleting the registry entries of a program will mean that on re-installing it wont be finding any trace of the program!! Which is a good thing in this case!
yeh thats true dela i tried my ass of to find the secret location of the file that prevents re-installation but i came to no sucess however and entire format (as u all may now) clears that file (and about every other damn file on ur comp lol) then the installation of trial software can be done however i will be finding out more about the secret file soo i'll keep u lot posted ok peace dela peace ryan
lol man there are lots of tricks for trials that everyone knows about, i mean remember the programs that if u put the clock back it would put the number days u have left up, now thats plain stupid! lol
one thing i would like to add to this, found a programme called Uninstaller 2003 (xp), works fantastically.. shareware full for 30days... i tried it with a couple of installs and then using it to get rid of the proggy, then checked the REG, all gone... if anyone else has probs and are unsure about fiddling with their win REG, try this
Thanx, I'll make sure to try Uninstaller 2003 if i run into problems. i'm guessing you got it off Download.com? In Nero's case, after deleting the 'Ahead' folder from both 'Software' folders in my Reg, as suggested in an earlier post, I was able to install the most recent trial version without any problem.
