Nero says DVD-RWs are not writable since installing PowerISO

My DVR112D drive has suddenly stopped being able to write to DVD-RW discs.

I have a number of Philips and Ritek discs it has previously written to, but now it says they are "DVD ROM" and won't accept them as writeable.

I have tried the latest firmware, but this has had no effect.

I uninstalled the trial version of PowerISO, then removed NERO6 and even tried using NERO 7 trial. I've got WinXP SP2.

Any ideas? (other than wiping Windows!)

 

Sometimes programs mess with you drives registry settings. Clearing the filters may help.

If that doesn't do it go to Device Manager, find the drive-> right click-> Uninstall then reboot.

 

Tried both of those.

Still doesn't work.

NERO cannot see DRD-RWs as anything but DVD-ROMs.

Any other ideas?

 

Nope. Unless you can swap the drive into another computer to see if still displays the same behavior.
