It has been a week now, i steped away i spend all day yesterday googled on anything what could help me, I do not know what todo How hard can it be? is there an idiot proof programm out there? Before i bought nero i tried windows moviemaker could not use the file, it needed to be converted, oh my gosh tried muvee same thing so I hope i did not sound to bad any help from anybody Please? Thanks
DVD Shrink is simple. Either rip the DVD to the hard drive and 1 'Open files' or simply 'Open Disc'. Select 2'Re-author' and 3drag 'Title 1' from right to left. 4 Right click on Title 1 and 'Set Start/End Frames' A new screen opens and you choose a section you want to keep and 'OK'. Drag 'Title 1' from right to left again and repeat for the next selection. Repeat as required. You can move your selection order up/down on the left hand window. When ready, 5 click 'Backup' and either save to a new folder or burn to disk (you should be offered the choice of burning with Nero). http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm
ok i will try that, will i be able to cut still out what i want? Well i will see. thank you so much for taken the time. And I will let you know how i am doing
ok i did like you said if i click on open disc it gives me error message failed to open E:|video_TS.IFO the system cannot find the file specified if i go to reauthor :in the left colum it shows the dvd, on the right it lists harddiskdrives, devices with removable storage, when i click on the drive where the home video is (E) it comes up empty Sorry any other ideas?
What files or folders does Windows Explorer show on the DVD. When you said the files were on a DVD I assumed they were DVD format files. There should be a folder named 'VIDEO_TS' which will contain (among others) .VOB .IFO .BUP files. If the files are not in this format, then DVD Shrink cannot process them.
I am sorry it is a home movie i had converted from vhs tape to DVD a few years back, and it shows up as a mpeg file. Is there anything u know of i could try? I appriciate your help I have been downloading so much from the internet and trying different things the codec is another problem i downloaded but that is a different story all together. If you can think of anything I would appriciste it
Try Avidemux. Load/drag the file onto the window. Set 'Format' to' MPEG-PS(A+V)' Use the slider and the A/B buttons to mark the bit you want to remove. Click 'Edit' and 'Delete' the selection.Repeat as required. Click the 'Save' logo and save the edited file. Give it a full name including extension e.g. edit1.mpg http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/avidemux.cfm
ok i downloaded it switched it to mpeg video window pops up and asks me: it looks like mpeg do you want to index it? i click yes than it says:can't open "E:\#1.mpg.idx": 13 (Permission denied) oh boy I am realy getting fustrated, and again thanks!
ok i got so excited and i did nor relize the mpeg PS (A+V)just put it in the mpeg mode, anyways omg, so it asked me the same thing in the first window and than it did its little thing so now i can open it with the windows media player to. But i have to back up.... last night since nothing worked, and now i have to figure out how i did that again. I used the image burn program saved the dvd with the iso extension. oh boy this is getting exciting because you helped to get from nowhere somewhere LOL Now i do have a nother question because i would like to make menus 4 my dvd clips again years ago i used mydvd i believe, and that is no longer on the market do you know of any? Thank you soooooooooooooo much i hope this is it, wish me luck! I f you want me to i can keep u posted?
You can load clips in DVD Flick (each clip would be a 'Title' or can be merged into one large title) and if you opt to create a menu, each title would get a menu entry. In the project settings, remember to set the video as NTSC (North America) or PAL (EU and Australasia). DVD Flick includes Imgburn and will burn the disk if required. I believe 'FAVC' has much the same features (it requires .NETframework alas)and also allows you to use your own images as the menu background. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_flick.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/favc.cfm

Thanks again and I will. I had a little problem with something like intraframes error message but i turned it of last night and proberly wont'get to it until this weekend again. If you know what I am talking about and u know how to avoid that would b great if not. I am so thankful that i came this far with your help. And again I will take my time now to do one DVD at a time to see that i can get one done the way i want to. Again thanks
