Hi I just purchased Nero Ultra Recode 2,problem is when installed it causes problems.When I backup a movie it plays in my standalone player but wont recopy dvd shrink keeps giving me a C/R error.I had OEM Nero 6 that came with my LG burner & is it possible that when I installed new Ultra I installed all programs which included another copy of Nero6 & could this be the cause of my problems ? Many Thanks
Need some more details here. First of all, Recode is different than Nero Express. Secondly, before you installed Recode 2, it would have been prudent to uninstall your Nero that came with the burner, as this is considered by Nero as an "OEM" program. After unintsall, I would run a tool from Nero called Nero General Clean Tool. This will remove your Nero serial #s etc. from your system for a Clean install.Them Re-Start>Re-Install> Re-Start> Update.To the details, are you trying to Back-Up a copy protected DVD? Shrink & Recode will not work TOGETHER. Shrink WILL use Nero Express to burn though. Recode is very different than Nero Express. Give more Deatils so we may help you out.
You don't need to use DVD shrink to recopy. Just go into Nero burning rom and select the 'copy disc' option.
@oziwombat What kind of media are you using (that's including the one you've successfully backed up)? Cheap media is hard to re-copy sometimes, especially if you burned them at high speeds. What model is your LG burner? Go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and update to the latest firmware if there is any available for your LG dvd burner. Updating your burner's firmware will enhance the media compatibility and burning performances most of the times.
This appears to be a bug with this program. I have posted similar inquires about this same problem, without any answers. For some reason backups only play on burners or standalones. To make another backup copy; you should be able to just copy the contents, but this will not work with a Recode backup?
Thanks for your replies Firstly to Bunnyrip No I did not uninstall my OEM Nero Express as I do not have a good understanding of the way PC software works & believed the OEM Nero was needed to drive the burner.The new Nero Ultra Recode 2 includes Nero 6 Ultra edition Nerovision Express 2 Neromix,photoshow express,easyreader,&In CD4 Should I uninstall all Nero as per your instructions & start again or toss the Ultra & go back to the OEM Nero 6 & can it be updated to 6.6.0.16? I have done over 200 backups using Shrink & Decrypter With present media & I have been following the Forums tips for past 6 mths Burner is LG4120b[117] I had no problems before Ultra install Many thanks
haven't read the whole thread yet but saw enough to say...don't install the horrid (and unnecessary InCD)...
Thanks Discmania Problem is the movie I have ripped to my H/D with Shrink/Decypter & either copying a new backup thru Shrink or Nero burning Rom the copy when Run thru Nero disc scan has all red squares at the bottom of the scan
Thanks Creaky There is 3 diferent IN CD'S 1 came with burner 1 with Ultra & latest Nero update 4.3.20.1 None of these needed ? Do i have to un install in cd & run the Nero cleaner to finish ? What S/Ware do I have to use to drive the burner ?
Just uninstall all of Nero and then just reinstall Nero 6 Ultra. When you have done this get the latest update for Nero 6 from this site - download and install. Then go to start - control panel - add/remove programmes - find inCD and uninstall it. Reboot computer and try burning again.
...what he said ..you may need to also use Nero's Clean Tools to fully remove Nero from your pc before reinstalling..
Thanks for all your hints I uninstalled all Nero & ran the cleaner & rebooted. I then installed new Nero Ultra & updated to 6.6.0.16 Then tried a couple of burns & both had the same problem. I then uninstalled Ultra & ran cleaner rebooted & put my OEM Nero Express back in & now every thing works like it should. Even my rom drive reads dvd's again.Looks like I am stuck with the old OEM Nero6 .Now the question is can I update the OEM to 6.6.0.16 I can only assume that this Nero must have some sort of driver built into it.
let's get to the bottom of this.... how about updating to 6.6.0.16 and then running Nero's info-tool and pasting the (long) output here, it should highlight any possible conflicts. Nero is a great program but it just needs a few tweaks to burn forever more. And the logfiles are excellent at reporting on most aspects of a pc regards it's burning setup..
Hi Creaky Thanks for your input but at the moment I have a hard drive full of backups to burn out & while the old OEM is working so well & I want to make hay while the sun shines,& my time on the PC is limited due to having to share it with my wife & two grand kids. I to want to get to the bottom of the problem. Can I get back to this next week? Deleting IN CD seemed to work wonders with my old Samsung ROM drive it's reading DVD'S again.
no worries, you come back to the thread whenever you want. that's what i love about forums, once you're subscribed you just get a mail. i'll still be here
You can download Nero-6.6.0.16.exe and NVE-3.1.0.16.exe first and install both of them. If you have the serial number for Nero 6 Ultra, once you enter it, you are updated completely without having to re-install from the OEM version.
Hi Creaky I had the PC to myself today & now I know I can go back to my OEM version let's see if you can sort this out for me & I wont get into trouble from my better half about wasting $30 on something that does not work. OK I uninstalled OEM & ran the cleaner & rebooted & Reinstalled Ultra. 1st disc burnt & verifyed,ran thru Nero disc scan & had red squares @ the start & finish but ran thru shrink & got no CRC error 2nd one verified with errors Log below Home 1A23 Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 7/17/2002 9:20:56 AM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.16 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 16b (Nero Express) Recorder: <HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B>Version: A117 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-612 >Version: 0.5 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : WDC WD800JB-00JJA0 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : ST340016A atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-612 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-612 E: CDRom0 HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B F: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 70254592 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 479MB (491040kB) Free physical memory: 122MB (125156kB) Memory in use : 74 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 22.10.2005 UDF/ISO compilation 12:20:26 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 12:20:26 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 12:20:26 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6356 UDF document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 UDF Mode : UDF/ISO bridge UDF Revision : 1.02 UDF Partition Type : physical ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 12:20:26 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 12:20:26 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 12:20:26 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B running 12:20:26 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 12:20:26 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 12:20:26 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 12:20:26 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2202143 (489:21.68, 4301MB) 12:20:26 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 12:20:26 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: RITEKG - 05 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 12:20:26 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 12:20:26 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2202144 (2202144) = #2202144/489:21.69 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2202144 blocks [HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B] -------------------------------------------------------------- 12:20:26 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Hi Scubabud Thanks for your advice but I would not be surprised if the 6.6.0.16 update is causing my problems. I have posted my log & Creaky is going to have a look at it.
- not too bad, but still try to close on more stuff to ensure more free memory.. - can't remember if we are sure these are authentic G05's... - hmmm... - Nero's not a happy bunny. well the two obvious things left here are maybe the media's at fault, or the burner (sorry haven't re-read the whole thread thru, i'm groggy as was working 'til 02:30 after being up since 05:30 previous day).
