i need help. i use to use nero version 7 to back up my DVD's. I've upgraded to version 8 and now, none of my DVD-R disks work. I can only get the DVD+R disks to work. Can anyone help me?
Hi DaddyG Post the log and we an take a peek. If you didn't save it you can find them here: Documents & Settings>your computer name - like mine is binkie7>application data>ahead>nero burning rom. Or if using Recode it will be in the Recode folder. Just need the last failed one. If you don't see the application data folder - unhide it. Go to Tools>folder options>View tab then check 'show hidden files and folder'. Now click apply.

The illegal disc error usually means that the firmware doesn't support the media. Your firmware is update though. I have the same drive and have burned this same media with it w/o a problem. They were Memorex & Fuji brands. So maybe you have a bad batch? Might be. Try another burning program - here's a good free one - ImgBurn. Use the build mode to add the video_ts to burn. See how this goes. Still failing then pointing to the media. Ones to use would be Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell. Keep us posted.
