Hello, I am running Nero 7.10.1.0 and am using Nero Vision 4 to create my own music video dvd to play in my vehicle. My problem is that when I go to start the process of transcoding and burning the DVD the program will suddenly just stop randomly within a few seconds from starting at totally random parts such as "Transcoding Menu 10" or "Transcoding Keyisha Cole - Never Let You Go" and it will just sit there for hours and hours and "never" generate any type of error message or anything at all. The program doesn't show as being unresponsive in Task Manager (however it only closes by using Task manager to stop it). I know normally people post error logs for help, but Im not getting an error log to help, it just stops and sits there forever. Anybody willing to help, I'd so greatly appreciate it in advance! Hi, I do have exactly the same symptom with a DVD project. After one or two hours of operation (I have an old PC the whole generation is expected of beeing 6-7 hours), the program is some how stopped, no more CPU use, 99 % of CPU is idle, Nerovision do not show any error messages. And it is possible to click on cancel operation, but after the confirmation screen the application do not stopped and I need to kill it from the Task Manager. The strange point is that I used to generate that project a few month ago with an older version of Nero. The Project is based on MP4 in NTSC mode. There is no error in the logs. Maybe we could find common points between our projects. regards,
Hello, Humm strange. I also was able to burn without any problems in the past, but lately Nero gives me nothing but problems. I tried Roxio but I hate the program and that was very buggy for me. I tried again today and it keeps freezing at random spots during the transcoding process or when it says it is preparing for transcoding and it will just sit there for days and do nothing and generate NO error logs or messages at all.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to help me out. This is what I did... - Ensured DMA is set to "If Available" for both the primary and secondary ide controller. - Updated firmware for DVD drive to latest version. I have the TS-H553A drive from Dell. - Uninstalled Roxio completely including using RoxioZapp remover. - Ran CCleaner to clean registry, and manually removed some Roxio registry values as guided. - Restarted several times... - And end result is that the program still suddenly stops during the "Preparing for transcoding" section at totally random spots until I have to use CAD to stop the nervovision.exe process to get it to shut down. Kind of a little let down.... Im trying to convert all the music videos into different formats such as Xvid, avi, mpeg, to see if that has any affect, will report on results tomorrow.
I would change to different media.....and go with the better version of Nero 7: Save your serial # then uninstall Nero! Use the cleaning tool: Nero7 Clean tool http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html do a registry clean up using this free cleaner: CCleaner: then do a defrag and reboot! now reinstall Nero 7.10.1.0: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?2893 if you did so, check your DMA to be sure all is set correctly! try again and then post new Nero log!
Hello, I already performed the above steps, I am running 7.10.1.0, did the ccleaner, defrag, removed all roxio, ensured dma is set to on and still no luck. I'm using WinAVI to convert the music videos all to mpeg first before trying to run Nero again. If it still doesn't work I'll post the log again.

Hello, Okay I tried all the above steps, 1) Completely uninstalled Roxio including using Removal tool and CCleaner 2) Completely uninstalled Nero including using removal tool and ran CCleaner 3) Defraged and restarted several times. I converted all my music videos to Xvid with ImToo Mpeg Convorter first, then created a new project in Nero. Started it and boom, it freezes at totally random parts of the "Preparing for Transcoding" section, and the only way to close the program is to stop the nerovision.exe process in Task Manager. I looked in the proper folder for a NeroHistory.txt log or anything similar and this time there is absolutely no log even generated. I do not have Roxio, and running Nero 7.10.1.0, have DMA on, latest drive firmware, and it's still freezing and generating no error logs to be used. Very frustrating....
why did you convert your music videos and then used NeroVission? What format are your music videos that NeroVision can't do it in the first place? And..... once you did convert to Xvid (I presume that means AVIs?) does the files work ok? maybe it's the first conversion that's causing Nero problems.
I tried converting them prior to using Nero to see if that corrects any problems which it didn't. The music videos were in avi, mpg, and wmv format. I tried running Nero again on the original unconverted music videos with the same effect and problem. Both the original and converted music videos play just fine and appear to have no problem.
OK, now that you have done all that was suggested, post your new failed Nero history log so we can take another look at it. As IHoe mentioned there is NO need to convert your files before using Nero...just let NeroVision do it for you!!
