ive seen here that everyone hates nve2 appaerntly... but the thing that is pissing me off is that i was able to burn one dvd - now all i want to do is burn 4 avi's to dvd. the first one worked. (thank god) - now the second one (i have 4 more), what happens is... it will start transcoding, and then the progress bar will stop counting and the overall time will be at a hour and a half and the current progess will still be at 4 minutes or so. what am i doing wrong? can someone plz point me in the right direction?

Well I don't hate it. Far from it I like it. Just did another Xvid conversion combined with a Dolby Digital logo, added chapter stops and the result is great. The only thing I don't like it appears to insist on a menu. To get around that I save to the HD first, then open the file in Recode, do a movie only and burn. It would appear that it is best to save Express's output to HD first either way, then burn with either Burning Rom or Recode for a more compatable chapter stop result.

The only negative appears that only LPCM and Dolby 2 channel audio are suported. No 5.1.

What type of AVI's are they? Are you using the latest version?

    Hi Hal

I had the same problem as you. I'd made about 20 DVDs then I got the symtoms that you describe.

I've just encoded another avi after I notice that the drive I was using was all fragged up. After switching drive to try out the encoding it worked.

Check your drive and see if its fragmented or not.

    Hope this helps

There is an option in NVE to skip the menu creation. Click the "More" button on the screen where you import the video files.
