Hello, I'm trying to burn a dvd with 5 video files, and on my desktop they take up 4.2 gigs, but when I import them into nero vision, it says it will take over 9 gigs of space to burn.

Is this normal? I didn't do anything with the settings, except make chapters and menus.

What's the running time of the source files.
When a highly compressed file(like DivX or XviD) is converted to MPEG2 (the DVD format) the file size is much larger.
A standard blank is two hours of MPEG2 - but the authoring programs allow more (by lowering the quality) but only up to a point.

Ok thanks. All together it's 8 hours and they're xvid files, so I guess that explains it.
