You said you just bought the new discs and they don't work- they are Sony DVD-R X16. Your burner is a bit older, rated for X8 maximum. It is possible it does not have firmware suppor for those discs. I would return them and try to get X8 discs. Incompatible format Also, you should not burn so close to the edge of the disc, you will get errors: Make your compilation not bigger than 4300MB.
thanks for reply, also, how i change to burn away from edge of disc to avoid those errors you mentioned... or is it just burning a smaller file size??
yes, you just burn a smaller size compilation. If it is too large, run it through DVD Shrink or Nero Recode and shrink it a few MB.
