I recently tried to open my nero 7 and it would not respond. I have tried various ways around this with no success. I finally went to control panel add or remove programs to remove it completley and re install. When went to remove the green bar went 3 quarters of the way and the following message came up: "SHELLMANAGER IS CORRUPT OR MISSING. When I pressed okay I got the following message: FATAL ERROR DURING INSTALLATION. I then went to all the options in the change section to repair, customise reomve nero another way, and got the same messages. I then went to program files and uninstall and was told something like: Another updated version of nero is avaliable. Please uninstall this version before removing this program. At wits end I then went to REGEDIT and removed every file under the nero banner and re started the computer. When it rr started the same nero was sitting there with the same problem. I then went to system resore and could only restore a few days earlier. I created my own restore point and it didn't change a thing. I have now been advised to set the computer back to it's factory settings, but this will jepordise me losingalot of saved data on the hard drive. Is there not another way around this? Has anone ever come accross this problem? Please help me somebody!
You don't say which Operating System you are using, but normally download the Clean Tools and run them. That should remove enough of Nero to get it to work. You may have to go through and manually remove any folders for Nero or Ahead to clean the system if you are still having problems. Did you ever have Nero 6 on your system? If necessary, there is also a register cleaner at the same address as the one indicated, or one level up. Try this and get back to us. Do not use the Windows remove programs option, or the Nero Product Setup. http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
Hi Saltgrass I haven't got access to the internet at the moment. Would it be possible to save the files and download them on my computer at a later stage? Thanks. Ps: The operating system I'm using is Windows XP media centre edition.
Hi again Saltgrass I did have nero 6 on my computer but that was a long time ago. I hope this helps. Thanks
If you had Nero 6 installed, you might want to run the Nero 6 Clean Tool. I don't know about Media Center or what problems it might cause with Nero 7. Are you installing the Home Center with the same type of utilities Media Center has? If you are, you might try not installing that part until later. I don't understand the saving files comment--you need to download the Clean tool and the updated Nero 7 whenever you can.
Hi Saltgrass I have downloaded Nero 6 and 7 clean tools, and the general and registry cleaners. If these don't solve the problem what would you reccommend I do? Would you reccommend I re set the computer to its factory settings as I can't get an ideal system restore date. The comment regarding saving data was in response to me having to re boot the computer completley
Hi saltgrass I fixed the above problems by using the nero toolkit as you recomended. Thanks for all your help and keep up the good work. Kwame sead
